BEWARE!!!! SOME MINOR SPOILERS!!!!!!

This is my first review so bear with me Smile

I have just come home from the theater. I will give it 9/10 because it
doesn't pretend to be more than it is, and that is a solid
action/horror film with a good cast (I love Fishburne as the soldier
gone crazy hermit) and it treats me like an intelligent being by NOT
over explaining EVERYTHING, it's nice to see it leave certain things
unexplained so the viewer can decide for him/herself, what is what with
certain things happening throughout the movie.

And there is several nice little nods to the original Predator film but
not too much (ok maybe a little Smile And, it's NOT watered down when it
comes to the gory stuff, but at the same time it's not overdone so it
seems silly.

I'm overjoyed that the Pred's once again are shown as hunters with a
code of conduct, like not killing unarmed prey.

And it's really awesome to see a pred going Mano a Mano using only
it's blade against the Yakuza guy who is only armed with a Katana, that
fight is btw. beautifully made, like it was plucked right out of a
Samurai classic Smile That fight is an honorable fight where the 2
combatants respect each other (love the part where the Yakuza salutes
the pred with he's sword and the pred returns the gesture by raising
he's blade. And I think it was really great that I got the feeling that
the Yakuza really had a chance (it's not a David VS Goliath fight).

And last but not least, I'm overjoyed that the film managed to surprise
me several times, halfway through the film I actually got the feeling
that anybody is up for grabs and not just the obvious types.

All in all, a great Genre film and a worthy sequel to the 1987 classic,
and btw. this doesn't need a sequel, but if they do it anyway I will
only go watch it if it's the same team that does it.

thanks man,

I'm actually looking forward to this one. The cast seems pretty decent, I'm just hoping its nothing like aliens vs predator cause that shit sucked big time.

It isn't like AvP, it tries to follow Predator from 87 and in my book, it does it pretty well, so go see it if you can't wait for a dvdrip Wink

Ps. Just remember that it ain't Shakespeare but the same thing can be said about the original Very Happy

I watched this earlier today. I have to say although it was good, it wasnt as good as I was expecting. I mean I really really wanted this to be something along the lines of awesome and it just wasnt. I didnt like main character and could have better cast but what really annoyed me is when I watched one of the trailers, there was a scene at the end when Adrien Brody's character's body is covered with multiple targets from the Predators signature targetting reticule. Much to my disappointment, this scene was not in the movie I watched at all.

Overall I thought it a bit slow paced at the start and a tad predictable. It had paid plenty of homage to the original Predator movie and retains the basic score from the soundtrack, which is totally awesome and some of the best movie music to ever grace my ears. Its not a patch on the 1987 version, which is without a doubt the original and best.

Id give it a generous 7/10.

@headshot
That scene was in the script as a possible cameo of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he didn't want to do it, so I guess they scrapped it altogether.

A quote of mine from the other thread:

I dont think real Predators fans will enjoy this movie since its PG13 when both Predator Movies (not that AVP crap) were rated R.

I might go see it with my daughter tomorrow and see how this turn out in a big pile of shit.

Well, there have been a lot of cases where they show some cool scene in the trailer and leave it out, haha. Laughing

Well you got that completely wrong. This is rated 18 and btw. AVP was rated 13, can't remember AVPR. And I'm taking about the rating for the theatrical versions and not for some extended edition on dvd.

Of course the films are most likely rated differently in different countries, but I guess were are both talking about the US rating...

And still no release date in Israel.

If they don't release this soon and set a date for The Expendables I'm going on a killing spree.

Seriously, I don't go to the movies all that much so whenever a movie like this comes out I want to watch it on a big screen.

This is the movie you want to waste your money and energy on (having to tolerate idiot Arsim and dumb bitches talking on the phone - "שומעת, אני מה זה לא בטוחה שאני רוצה לראות את הסרט הזה אבל איזה חתיך השחקן אה? יא אללה" Rolling Eyes)?

I'd rate it 9/10 and this comes from someone who loved both predator movies.

Gonna have to get this on blu-ray.

Just come back from the theater and holy fuckin shit....this movie is a complete Bore Fest. 2 couples got out half way through not to mention poeple who fell asleep including my wife.

The movie is really bad, barely no actions and alot of talkings. I should have follow my instincs and not go see it since its PG13.

Where are you getting PG-13 from?

It is an R rating, and there is no way they could fit the level of violence and language that this film has into a teen friendly rated film.
