They could make the best footy game ever but if it's laggy online which it has been since pes6 and even that had more lag than the current fifas do then it doesn't matter.
Pes2011 amazing game terrible online lag = who cares
Fifa managed to make the animation transitions look good. PES is lacking that but always offered more freedom. And giving the player more freedom than in 08,09 and 10 is a very good thing! Let's hope for a good PES... even though the transitions suck donkey dick
The big thing about PES has always been that you couldn't predict what was about to happen even if you hiet everything perfectly, something that you do with the fifa series. You sort of know and feel if every angle is right the ball is going exactly where you know it's going to go. Scoring a goal isn't half as satisfying in fifa as it is in PES.
But PES has some huge problems, the animations are not the best to say the least, tactic wise there hasn't been a good football game ever produced (maybe because fifa is made in canada and pes in japan... you don't feel the connection europeans or south americans have with the game) and the BIGGEST problem: the keepers are utter crap, it's so frustrating that 1 goal out of 3 is a goolkeeping error.
Also the 2010 version wasn't much fun to play against some buddies as the 2009 was. We still come together every month or so to play a tournament on the 2009 version. Scores like 3-2 4-3 1-0 5-0 are possible but when playing 2010 it's mostly 1-0 0-0 0-1 1-1. Just weird.
And when you compare the football games to other sportsgames out there, they are so behind it's sad for the biggest sport on the planet.

My impressions? Quite bad, as usual, especially when it comes to the transitions between different animations and the behaviour of GKs, which is simply patethic.
Thanks for the video, I think it looks great.
Link feints!? fuck yeah, thats a good one actually.
Bodycheck are back also, missed this great thing in 2010, one of my crucial moves.
And good they scrapped this colourfull menu, it sucked/sucks hard givin me a bad overview.
Guess the Gameplay will be 10/10 again this year, take that from youre assured die hard PRO player.
And complaining about goal keepers? check this out,

More of the same..few new animations here and there, gfx is same,a bit better sound and cheers..and i really hope judge is fixed, you can literally kill player on the field in PES 2010 and he won't do shit.I remeber in 2009 judge was ridiculously harsh...and that auto tackling you simply can't control it,oh god .. they have to find balance.
I do want to try it...I want to feel what is like to pass ball around with that new system, and I like that formation screen, game speed option and duels between players..
But overall im not happy what i just saw..

I had more luck killing players in 2009, but yeah the auto tackle destroyed the game for me.
The computer kills me pretty often though in pes2010, or they mostly just master sliding tackles.
I can hardly manage that, when coming up from behind etc.
The keeper at danny's goal looks reasonable, look how close he is up goal.
Keeper got a split second to react, he could expect the ball to come at the short corner.
Therefore, you can also manually position/be your keeper, requires some skill.

Hm, I don't think that video is as bad as some of you make it out to be. Sure the animations are still a fair bit behind FIFA, but the game seems to have a MUCH better pace (before he increased the speed) and the individuality seems MILES better than FIFA. Frankly, I am quite sure PES is going to be a better football simulation. FIFA is arcade: waay too fast and with tons of "sweet spots".

It is, of course, too early to say anything definitive, but from the experience of the past few years, the pattern was always the same: new game, very high expectations, many changes in the game (GOOD), but not in the aspects that improve gameplay. For me PES2008 - PES2010 gameplay-wise is pretty much the same, and it does not have a feel of a football match. It's a delicate balance, and i'm not suggesting it is easy to do, but i think we all know what Konami is capable of. Opinions differ on whether PES5 or PES6 was the best, but overall consensus is that the gameplay in those two games was far superior to the current next-gen series.
Konami do not want to release a mediocre game, i think you're misunderstanding what i said. PES2010 is a very good game, and there is every chance that PES2011 will be even better. The problem for me with these games however, is that there is too much focus on the visual presentation and not enough attention to try to make the gameplay more believable, more football-like. Gameplay is a combination of graphics, animation, physics, tactics, and many other small things. It is VERY DIFFICULT to find the right balance and have the game feel like it is a football match. Konami had done it with PS2-generation of games, but not with the new-gen (IMHO). And for me, that is the deciding factor. You can have all leagues in the world, balls, kits, tournaments, stadiums, extremely deep management in Master League - but ultimately it all doesn't matter, if when you play the match you don't believe it is football.
Unfortunately, it seems that Konami is currently concentrating on perfecting the visual aspect of the game. It is of course an important part. However, the very fact that people still play PES5 and PES6 is a proof that the hard-core fans of the series want the gameplay, not graphics. You would think that if Konami wanted to target that audience, they would put most of their efforts into improving animations of players, physics and collisions, and also going back to implementing little things right, that combined make a huge difference (like when ball is out of play, the clock shouldn't stop). That is not the case though, so that is why i'm saying that Konami is going after a wider audience - people who don't necessarily want to spend hundreds of hours of playing the game, but for whom graphics and sound is very important, because it is the first thing they see. Again, i'm not saying Konami is right or wrong to **** a particular audience. It is THEIR game and THEIR business to run. But personally, i'm one of those who don't like the direction in which the game is going. That's all.
As for Kitserver future, I honestly do not see myself doing a Kitserver for 2011 - for variety of reasons. I'm sorry if this is disappointing news. Actually, I really wish i had stopped earlier - perhaps after PES2008, but what's done is done. That is not to say that the Kitserver project is necessarily doomed. If there is enough interest, i think there is a chance that a version for PES2011 will be released - i've been in contact with a couple of very bright folks, who have the skills to **** up the project and continue with it.
I completely agree with Juce .. Kitserver is awesome community support for PES,and reading this is just sad.. There still will be mods and patches ofc,but if Juce is tired..heh...KONAMI is losing fans, even me and my friends don't play PES with passion anymore and this is first time in years i want to see what's FIFA has to offer.
Yes, I totally agree with Juce too. If I can recall correctly, he said the same thing last year (about the Kitserver), until he decided to develop a new version in order to not let the community die.
But I feel that this year will be different. It's a shame, but KONAMI has to blame itself if the situation has become this critical.
the golden age of japanese game development is long long gone the west took over making the best games years ago.yes there's the occasional great japanese game but in the most part they lag far behind, just look at the japanese rpgs they are so outdated compared to western ones.
I play both with my friends and everyone agrees that although the console FIFA version is technically superior in almost every way, in the end we have more fun playing PES, specially PES6. I'm not a programmer myself, but god damn, these guys are so clueless about game making sometimes that i wonder how they get to be on the top sometimes.
PES 6 is a good game, yeah it's old...but many ppl are still playing it,mostly hardcore fans. For me,it's my favorite in the series.Im playing Konami football games since 1996,and last couple of years im not satisfied where are they going with this.Im not saying i will not touch it anymore,I will still play it..only with my friends.PES is very popular in my country..but there are many ppl like me that are expecting way more from this game and want to try something new.

Do they still make up to date mods for PES6?
I hope they fix the lag in PES2011, it was unbearable at times in PES2010.
Players that warp etc, making it completely unplayable.
I'm hoping konami fixes this and also make a more accessible and friendlier online lobby.
Never had so much fun as with Fifa 2010 South Africa, they nailed it with Fifa 2010 and improved with SA, pes better wake the fuck up they are slacking and lagging behind, they used to beat fifa with a stick back in the day of pes 4,5 and 6, next-gen engine was/is the problem they never got it right, well maybe this year.
Im not playing PES 6 right now, because all of my friends are playing 2010 and if I want to play vs. matches I must stick with 2010.Last time I played PES 6 was in 2009 at my friends house, that time he had complete updates..transfers,kits,stadiums etc. There are updates, some guys are still working on PES 6 but there are not many patches available. You can find some option files with latest transfers out there but other stuff is availabe with some older updates.
The funny thing is everyone keep saying "forget the graphics", but FIFA "NEXT-GEN" has both much better gameplay and much much better graphics than PES "NEXT-GEN".
And yet it has been confirmed by several previews that the game will still based on the usual prehistoric 8-directional movement
And yet 20 others say that its 360 movement. Strange... They might start playing with the analog stick and discover 360.
Focus only on the movement of the players, especially when they're running with the ball: you'll clearly notice that the full 360 degrees control hasn't been implemented as the players are still running on rails
