One thing the roccat kave did right was noise canceling. So I thought i goggle for that, but what i get headset that need batteries for something i think is overkill (for me). What I look for is a headset that has noise canceling by design. Roccat kave did it by being big. So i guest im looking for a big headset that cove you're ear fully.

Uhm Creative Fatality?
It covers my ears completely and it has a decent mic and great sound.

one thing im afraid of will happen again is that if the headset need an usb I will have the same problem as with the roccat kave. Then i plunged in my roccat kave to a usb for power i get a white noise effect that is there all the time in the background.

There are two versions of the HS-1100, a USB one for those with shitty soundcards (like me; RealtekHD) or a standard one for those with decent soundcards =) However, if it helps; I've had no white-noise issues with my headset, unless there's no audio playing and the volume is set to maximum... once audio starts playing, or I turn the volume down, the noise goes away.

Someone doesn't have grounded sockets.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

The HS-1100 series goes under the name "Arena Surround" and I could have swore there was a non-USB version ... :\ In fact, I'm positive of it.

I would never connect a computer to a non-grounded socket, there are too many stupid glitches involved (such as white noise).

Judging by the name, the HS-1100 is a derivative of the HS-1000, the Creative Fatal1ty headset? HS-1200 is the wireless version of the HS-1000, so the 1100 logically is something in between

But yeah, it's a pretty decent headset. And like I said in your previous thread, it might very well be the grounding in your case. Many cases have that, but usually it only happens with the front ports, never heard it happen with the ones on the actual motherboard.

Yup, it's Creative's successor to the Fatal1ty HS-1000. I'm still looking, trying to find a non USB one but it's eluding me :\ I could have SWORE I saw a non-USB set before buying this one. Maybe I'm just going nuts Sad Oh and incidentally, I'm running my headset via a 4-port hub which in turn comes from the rear motherboard USB ports.

Found it.

Arena thing:

Fatal1ty Mk II:

They did the same with the 'old' Fatal1ty headset. Without USB audio it was called Fatal1ty, with USB audio was the HS-1000, and wireless was HS-1200 Smile

Aha! There we go, thanks <3 I only chose the one with the USB X-Fi because I believe the quality would be far better than my onboard RealtekHD one Very Happy

You were right

I bought an X-Fi Titanium about a year ago, and I'm definitely going back to the practice of getting a proper soundcard in future systems. Apart from the actual sound quality, little things like CMSS actually work pretty darn well too Very Happy

I have a pretty bad onboard soundcard on my personal notebook (even my work notebook, Lenovo T60, has a better sound and the MIDI sound comes out of the speakers WITHOUT a ~100ms lag!) and thought about getting a basic & cheap headset (could be without microphone too).

Is the Fatality Headset (USB) equipped with a sound chip or what? Would you recommend it over the Sennheiser HD 201 (which seems to be the best of the cheap head sets Smile And if it is equipped with a sound chip, is it any good?

Else I'm just going with the Sennheiser Smile

IMO Sennheiser will have the overall better sound quality from the headphones* (Sennheiser ROCK) but the Fatal1ty/HS-1100 USB comes with a Creative X-Fi built into the USB dongle, meaning considerably superior sound quality over your onboard audio. The HD-201 doesn't have any sound chip built in.

*though I could be wrong about that.

In this case, no Smile

The HD-201 is on par with the Fatal1ty headset and its derivatives/successors. Creative does slightly better on the lower region, Sennheiser slightly better on the upper region (at least that's how it sounded to me, dunno what the objective conclusion is) Razz

Creative also sell separate USB sound cards though, maybe that's an option if you've already got decent enough headphones?

No, it doesn't give you all the same modes and features of the X-Fi sound cards, and of course it doesn't feature an audio processor to offload processing from the CPU.

Sad And a lot of people complain, that if you play for too long overheating problems occur which result in scrambled sound. You have to exit and enter the game after unpluggin the usb adapter Sad

I don't know if I'm ready to pay twice as much for a headset with better bass :/
