Nobody is arguing about past games, that was mentioned once only to say that they had a subtitles options..
You are the retard who thinks it would be "mass market suicide" to have the game set in UK, that's what i'm talking about.

ugh, youd be surprised how many americans DO need subs for english speaking foreigners because they cant understand the accent, THATS the point. not that its SET in england. the number of times ive seen american documentaries where they interview some african guy, or english or australian guy, all speaking perfectly understandable english, and theyve had FORCED subs on the show just so that the viewers will be able to understand whats being said. Ive seen message boards for foreign movies (ie non american) with american users asking for english subs - not because theyre deaf, but because they - once again - have trouble with the accents. ive said its not ALL americans, and its certainly not ALL people (I, like others, have virtually no problem understanding many different accents), but its definately an issue - and gamers, if there anything like most american movie watchers, hate being forced to read subtitles.
but then again, this probably wont be such a big deal for gta... i mean the dialog is generally pretty stupid, and we only keep coming back to steal cars and shoot latinos.

That's also often just a stupid precaution. Seriously, every time a Flemish (Dutch speaking Belgian) is interviewed on Dutch tv, they put subtitles below it. Noteworthy here is that Flemish people tend to speak more proper Dutch than half of the Dutch people. The only Flemish accent that's hard to understand is the shit from the west, because they don't pronounce the g basically.
Apparently subs aren't needed when they interview some piece of shit chav from the outskirts of Amsterdam, who doesn't even speak our language properly. Pisses me off to be honest, because these people are also quite often racists >_<
Ontopic: I'm sure we'll get a heavily optimised version that only needs a dodeka-core CPU clocked at 7 GHz and a minimum of 4GB VRAM ^_^

you'd be surprised how many are the non american guys, or even the non english-speaking people all around the world
there is no dubbing in gta, most of the people around the world did use subtitles to play
unless you want to say americans are too lazy or too close minded to play a game with subs, i don't see your point
why those americans that can't understant english that you're talking about couldn't play gta with subs?
also, this is a video game, all the voices can perfectly performed by americans, sounding americans, nobody will complain

but thats the whole point.. you may as well just set it in america if youre going to take that approach... just about every ethnicity is represented there, and they all have their own locations with their cultural themes, so if youre not going for an authentic foreign experience, like i said, may as well just leave it set in america. |

The guys at Rockstar seem to have built up some kind of America fetish, so all of this "derp derp Americans can't understand non-American accents" shit is total bull. Additionally, documentary producers just add those subtitles as an extra courtesy -- nothing more. After all, documentaries are supposed to be educational as well as entertaining, so it's more important to have subs in a documentary.
Personally, I'd love to see it set in London instead of a GTA:SA rehash. Especially with LA Noire coming up.

I honestly do not see them ever leaving North America. Other then London since obviously they've already done that one, and a lot of people want it.
Would you guys seriously want a GTA based in Asia or the Middle East or some 2nd/3rd world European country? I wouldn't.
