Anyway, now I have to wait for the modders to make campaign maps and there were several extremely well done campaigns for Starcraft and Warcraft III, with the new editor it will probably even better.

I meant polished gameplay, not that there are no bugs, 'cause you can see there are loads just by checking Blizz tech support forum. The campaign is very good so far though. Tell me you didn't smile in the "zombie" and "Lava" missions? (haven't played much more since my copy hasn't arrived yet and i don't wanna redo all the campaign again). I agree it's not Coh though, doesn't have that "Wow" factor, but it's very good.

The Supernova is also very good, with map phasing and all.

As far as I've played (5 missions, and skimmed over next two), I'm impressed. Both missions and in between mission stuff (including upgrades and research) are great.

I especially like how every mission unlocks new units, thus making game a bit non-linear.

Still, I agree that it's a bit too easy on Normal. And I'm casual gamer. Almost never played MP, and only played Starcraft and Warcraft3 for campaigns. For example, I was really expecting to get swarmed at the end of 3rd mission (based on my experience of similar mission in Starcraft1). Instead I barely had any loses. Zergs where even unable to take out outer perimeter, making inner bunkers useless.

With all that said, I'm still a bit of a chicken. I don't want to up to hard and risk getting badly beaten or something. I'll probably try to finish campaign on normal, and maybe later try hard.

BTW I havent found any skirmish maps in my install dir (I think they are downloaded from Bnet) and if my theory is correct, if those people would share their downloaded maps we could open them through the editor and play them skirmish Smile

Actually the maps are there. It was easy to test, just download replays and they play just fine.

Now question for those who have bought the game. Can you play skirmish while not having internet connection?

It doesn't work. I hit play as guest, and it says to play offline, I need to authorize my game client and that I also need at least one Starcraft II character on the account. I can't play the game at all even though it's fully installed and fully patched using the RELOADED update.bat.

You copied the other folders after the update? That's all that is needed, the update trick is not even needed if you updated through the Battle.net launcher.

In some parts, it did.. but I'm not the one sitting here sucking Blizzcock and claiming SC2 is "teh bestest RTS evah and is moar innovative than anything EVAH!" like some people. Bullshit it is. 3hrs in and I've yet to see ANYTHING that hasn't already been done before in other games - and in the case of DoW2; done better. Simply put.. SC2 has ZERO innovation outside of the map editor, and even then.... I dunno... I'd call it more of an SDK than a simple map editor, and if you want to start talking SDKs then Blizz has a LONG way to go before it takes THAT crown.

SC2 is a fun game, but living up to the hype it ain't. Period.

Heck, Dune II had mission selection and it most certainly didn't ripped it from any other RTS. Razz

100 % agreed. But even Blizz admits that. The problem is the hype created by the fanboys that don't understand squat of RTS history.

Though, it doesn't stop me of being a fan of their work, the time they take to polish the game is second-to-now and I have a man-crush on Metzen and Didier. Those two built the Blizzard design by themselves and are far from being common gaming nerds.

It was when I fell in love with the RTS genre. Very Happy

And Civilization, though not being a RTS.

I really don't get why they scrapped the original concept, the original concept was an actual starmap, not just a mission briefing screen.

So in that sense i am a bit disappointed that they chose to remove the whole starmap concept.

Aside from a few niggly issues, I have to agree there; this game really DOES feel polished to a mirror friggin' shine --- but then, it BETTER BE! They've had how many goddamn years to do it? Laughing

Likewise! Dune 2 was absolutely sensational, even back when I was a kiddywink -- and I couldn't tell you the hours I've lost in Civ and Colonisation.

Probably "fan request" Sad As I said; I've nothing against the way it's been made - it feels and plays great, but (IMO!) it has already been outclassed by the likes of DoW2/CoH/WiC and has had the unfortunate effect of drawing too much fanboy hype and idolatry Sad Still having fun right now though.
