So, last time I was looking at cases I got interested in the Antec 900 Two but never bought one. Now that I have a new system (Core i5 750) I need a new case that can keep the temps down in the case. My current case sucks and is at least 3-4 years old.

Should I go for the Antec 900 Two or are there better cases around for the same price and air-cooling factor?

Need to be full tower?
HAF X is nice (though it's one of those v gamer case looking designs)

Perhaps.

I'm not the least interested in looks, I'm looking for pure performance, good design (practical and easy to build with) and excellent airflow.

The HAF X is all those things Smile
Get a lil look if you can put up with Rodney Reynolds talking like a drone.

Almost twice as expensive as the Antec 900 v2. Sad

Awesome drive bay though.

It's miles better than the antec case though.

Check out the HAF 932 as a cheaper alternate.( i have this case myself)
It's also a better airflow case than the 900 and quieter too.
Though no dust filters. means you either make your own from cutting up your girlfriends best pair of tights, or you clear out the dust every few months.

Awesome case other than having no dust filters. and looks wise it's another love it or hate it design.

Have you seen this??? I'd LOVE one of those, but it's 8x as expensive as the Antec or Coolermaster:

ps. not sure about the airflow on the components though. There are fans for each drive bay but otherwise I didn't see any fans.

I've just bought a CM690 Advanced II after owning the first model of the Antec 900. Much better looking and a pure joy to work with. The HAF lineup is just plain ugly and regardless of how great it is on the inside, I'd be ashamed to have it seen near me.

Edit: Oh, and dust filters galore. The 900 was a nightmare in the dust department, it was almost sandy inside. Even the PSU has a dust filter.

^^That's a good case, but poor airflow.
he wants excelent airflow/cooling.

902 has dust filters by default, I put in my own filters with the 900

As for good airflow: the HAF X is too big to have really proper airflow, midi towers always cool better because of the higher positive pressure you can build up. The HAF X does beat the Antec 1200 for example, but both of those are nowhere near as good as Antec's 902, CM's HAF 922 or Lian-Li PC-P50. If you're looking for cooling over build space, midi towers are the way to go, and in that group the 902 is one of the best, especially for cooling the GPU.

My advice: use Bit-Tech reviews to make your choice. They are not the most technical hardware website out there, but they are probably the one website with the most case reviews out there, and damn good ones at that.

+1 for using bits reviews. cpc do awesome case testing.

-1 for misleading info that mid towers always cool better.

Damn,I want that Thermaltake level 10 case, but 550 euros for a mere case(was the cheapest price I could find) is madness... :/

Still,I am mad enough so who knows. Cool Face

902 it is then. Fits in my price range and seems to give plenty of air flow in the case. As I said before, I'm totally uninterested in bling and looks (except for the Level 10, but that's a special 'case'). Smile

Your images show what exactly? 922/932 are both mid towers, those graphs are all mid towers. Bit-Tech keep the two separate Wink
CM classify 932 as a full tower, but compared to other full towers it has less space IIRC. Been a while since I read that review Razz

And I'm not saying a mid tower cools better by default, but a good mid tower will beat any full tower unless you stuff a ridiculous amount of massive noisy fans in the latter. That's just simply physics Smile

I have 3 full tower cases here, and can assure you the HAF 932 is full tower size exact same height as my other 2 but deeper/wider.
It's bigger than any mid tower cases. not as tall as the extremely tall full tower/server type cases.
It was included in the review as it is a point of interest in comparison to the 922.

I never said you were wrong, not completely anyway. just that what you said is misleading. and it is. mid towers do not always cool better.

Now you are just wrong Razz

Comparison to another full tower
HAF X
230 x 550 x 590 (WxHxD mm)

Antec 1200
210 x 510 x 582 (WxHxD mm)

HAF 932
243 x 560 x 564 (WxHxD mm)

Mid towers
Antec 300
205 x 458 x 465 (WxHxD mm)

NZXT Hades
200 x 430 x 501 (WxHxD mm)

Antec 902
218 x 493 x 472 (WxHxD mm)

Can't give any suggestions as such but a good thing to also consider is cable management so airflow isn't blocked or hindered .
(The case I use is the Cooler Master RC1000 which balances size, robustness, sound and airflow but doesn't excel at any, replaced later by the RC-S "ferrarri" which removed part of the sound dampening material and replaced it by a side mounted 200' fan for proper airflow, coupled with a closed GPU system which sucks in air and blow it outside the case it would further enhance cooling, HAF-X which is their new model if I remember correctly goes even further though that's just as a interesting note as it's also rather expensive as you noticed and a open GPU fan might unbalance the airflow a bit.)

(As a side note that V8 case or what it was called in the above image looks cool but is very over priced.)

(As a further side note as another not so useful bit of info is that while the Cosmos case is robust it is made more or less by steel and weights a impressive 20 KG without anything in it, as I discovered when I first lifted the package, dust filters included as well but requires regular cleaning to avoid it getting into the case and it builds up rather fast, I do have a dog though so dust and fur particles are everywhere in only a couple of days without vacuum cleaning.)
