it's a very shallow rts there's no cover system or certain units able to hold off many like in coh.
Sorry but the gameplay is like c&c 3 utterly shallow with no depth what so ever.

Only blind diehard starcraft and blizzard fans rate this, had this game came out 5 years ago i would have said yea great game but ahem coh came out in 2006 and shits all over this from a great height.
I think the only reason people don't like coh is because they suck at it and find the micro in this far easier.

My biggest issue is there being no cover system and that protoss and zerg seem crap and hard to gain empathy to play with.

I'd even buy the game, but then I'd STILL be unable to play LAN with my brother, because he doesn't want to buy it. And he is only interested in playing LAN with me, nothing else. So buying this twice just for LAN is BS...

This is why spawned copies were such great features with original Starcraft and Warcraft2.

It allowed playing LAN MP with friends with single legal copy, and was a good way to promote the game (to make friends buy their own copies later, either for campaign or battle.net MP).

.

Really, why would someone who barely head about the game, want to buy it in order to be able to play it with his friends that already have a copy. I mean, you need to be able to try i first, not other way around.

Well, if you have two computers behind a switch or a router, aren't you technically playing in LAN (same thing like when you're sending a file between two Live Messengers behind a router or switch, transfer speed goes up to LAN speed)? I mean, it's not like absolutely everything in your match is syncing with the battle.net?

I am sure that now, somewhere in Russia, in a darkened room, a shady figure is sitting on a dusty desk with quite some empty vodka bottles on it, and he is anxiously creating an multiplayer utility on his crackzor system :}

You can't really see anything after an hour of play.

You really need to play at least 3-5 missions to get actual feel of campaign (to get to Hyperion and unlock all it's rooms).

Thats how it works in Blizzard, no pressure on finishing something quickly, i wonder how much hours blizzard stuff spent everyday to do something, for example on Diablo III.
If starcraft 2 was their first game, it would be finished in year and half max, but now? Sometimes i fear i wont be alive until they make sequel to some of their games.
Game is fine, but surely it dont show 5 years of (hard) work.

They are not available in the multiplayer-mode because they would break the balance (something StarCraft is very known for)

See... that's the part I don't understand. There were Firebats in the FIRST StarCraft MP... so why aren't they in this one? Obviously the first one was balanced with Firebats. IMO the reason they're not in MP is because they're either going to be a microtransaction addition or an exclusive MP features of the upcoming expansions.

they are not in it because it overlaps roles with the current marauder and helion. in sc1 you got firebats to kill zerglings (and zealots, but protoss doesn't usually use them against Terrans). they were also slightly better tanks than marines. Now in sc2 marauder serves as the bio tank and helion got the flame thrower to kill lightly armoured units like zerglings.

many of the units weren't included because its role overlapped with the responsibilities of a unit already in the game. devs have done interviews explaining their motive behind some of the more popular units that was taken out like the lurker or reavers.

that's why I dont think they are going to be in future expansions... unfortunately... (I liked the lurker and reaver Sad ) microtransactions? please. do you realize how that will fuck up the competitive scene? blizz would never let anything come between sc2 and esports.

Sooooo... they removed one unit and made two out of it, then complain that previous unit wasn't balanced properly? How is it possible to balance two units versus balancing just one? Gah, I dun gettit... Sad As for microtransactions affecting the competitive scene (btw; I don't think Blizzard gives a shit about the competitive scene unless it makes them more money) - they WILL be adding more units in the coming expansions, which has already effectively split the "competitive scene" into two; those who buy all three expansions, thus getting the "complete" effect, and those that only buy one or two.

they took out firebat and put in marauder, took out vulture and put in helion.

now in the CURRENT state of the game, putting firebat back in would have role overlap with both marauder and helion. therefore, it's was taken out of MP because results in redundant unit diversity and thus difficulty in balancing of the game.

at least that's the impression I got from reading interviews of why they took out some of the units.. like my LURKERS.

+1
A nice RTS title but nothing too revolutionary or unworldly as some are trying to imply. I really can't fathom all the fuss and racket when it comes to stacraft. I enjoyed it but more like in the range of 6/10 and nothing more. In my opinion, this game's unduly overrated.

Hey there, I have a question about regions and language:
I have downloaded the RZR version, in english so; I just got a German cd key (DE). Will this mean I will play on german servers? Will this mean if I used the RZR version with the key, my game will still be in English?
Thanks for your help!
