Its more .... "Complex" than call of duty.. yet still nothing like operation flashpoint....
i mean.. u dont have any real freedom.. its pretty linear ... yet u have a bit more freedom than u would in say call of duty.. but u sill.. cant walk over some pieces of grass.. fences.. etc.. ur still blocked in...

Anyway, sounds good! |
You push a button to display a little blue circle, you drop the blue circle somewhere where you can see and your squad will move there.
They are pretty good about finding cover when they get there, etc.
There are also a couple things you can do with the blue circle too, like tell your squad to assault. They will charge the position while firing and tossing nades, etc.
So pretty much you just use the blue circle to order them around.

Oh that is good. Sounds quite easy, like Republic Commando. Can you issue orders to each member of the squad, or you just give them general pointers and they do what is right by themselves?
Sorry about all those questions, but I REALLY am curious about the game.

Hmm...
Can't get the game to run decent at all. It even stutters in the menu.
Anyone else with thoose problems? First tried it with all settings high, 1024x768. Maybe 5fps, set down alot of things, maybe 8fps.
Specs:
XP3200+
512 ram
X800XT
Newest drivers
Can run any other game with highest settings and good fps.
Does anyone got a clue what i can do to make the game work atleast decent?

Order them around as a squad, they do the rest.

Wow, I am so not impressed... COD was actually better than this so far. I only played through the first chapter and I'm thinking - oh dear I've gotten sucked into the hype...
The whole game is based around this 'tactics' motif of flanking. Apparently it's the be all, end all of combat and essentially the maps are made a bit less linear in the sense that any enemies you come across you are able to suppress them in order to flank them.
Sounds good enough on paper - but it's pretty unsatisfying to play when games like COD have been around the block already. I'm not far in the game so maybe it will pick up - I definately hope so - but this appears in terms of PC gaming overhyped.
What say you?

Well I still haven't got the PC version so can't comment directly, but I have got the Xbox version and i'm guessing they're pretty much the same.
Well, one thing I do like about the game is that you can't just destroy every enemy singlehandedly and cover is a big issue.
But saying that I haven't really played the game that much, I got to the second tank mission and thought 'meh, i'm not particularly enjoying this' and haven't really bothered to play much since. Maybe I should start playing it a bit more, because there have been parts i've enjoyed. But since getting MGS3 I see no reason to struggle on with it. I'll probably return to it eventually.
But Isep, I think that flanking was (and still is) a major part of tactical fighting. In full spectrum warrior is was your bread and butter tactic.
I liked the scale of call of duty more. You feel like you're part of massive battles in that.

Well, if you only played the first chapter then you haven't seen much of the game, wait until you're commanding either 2 squads, or a squad and a tank.
Frankly, I like BiA more than ANY other WWII FPS, simply because it's more realistic, with some fun firefights.
Cod was fun, but even when there were AI soldiers with me I felt like I was playing alone and doing all the fighting. Felt more like an "arcade" game. Great game, sure, but I just think BiA does the job better.
I'd hate to see CoD 2 being just like the original (can't command AI, some lone-soldier missions, etc).
Even medal of honor changed (but didn't go full monty like bia) with pacific assault.

The graphics are good on the xbox, and from the screenshots don't look much better on the PC. Plus I never had any problems with the controls.

Well, I had a harder time aiming and shooting when using the ironsight, even though I enjoy playing halo 2 on the controller.
Graphical quality will, of course, vary depending on the user's PC. On mine I like the higher resolution (easier to see enemies from far) and less slowdowns (like in the church level, or the one after that, where you're in the roads with lots of vegetation around).
Xbox version was still great, otherwise I wouldn't have played it so much.

You guys are looking into the graphics thing way too much... we want the PC version for mouse + keyboard, not for graphics.
Come on now.

Does anyone else think that the water in this game looks much more realistic than all that crystal clear transparent bullshit in farcry/hl2 and the like?

NO...
Im disappointed in this game,
I only played it for one hour but it felt like a port, choppy like hell.
The sound is not PC worthy, not to speak about the graphics which are just the same, if not worse, than Call of Duty.
Im surprised to be the only one around here that thinks this way.

Then you probably didn't get to the good part, where you control AI squads. BiA isn't about graphics, its about gameplay

Thats true i havent been there yet. I know graphics isn't everything, but I couldn't find the good gameplay in this game either..

Not saying flanking isn't a bread and butter technique, it is, but the AI does nothing to counter this except turn around at the last minute to shoot you once you've walked all the way around to meet them.
They don't use tactics themselves.
So flanking becomes a kind of gimmick rather than a tacical decision.

I totally agree with your comments about COD, but BIA borrows heavily from both COD and MOH (whilst those two share a kind of kinship in itself). There is little here that is 'fresh' to me, commanding squads is not new, and certainly the 'realism' is not new either. It's just an extension of what we have in the other two WWII games.
It's alright so far, I'm just a little nonplussed is all at how average the game is despite the fanfare surrounding its release. I'll soldier on to see whether it gets any better

The game runs very bad here. Around 30 fps, sometimes less with 1024x768, blob shadows, rest max., no AA, AF 4x
