The the bad thing is it has no release date yet, and is probably one or maybe two years away, and by that I mean maybe one year more to fix the game once it's released. Should be good eventually though.

Yeah lack of money in the kitty tends to stop you bothering with making things well huh..
That really says it all, they make little cash due to no drm
Still a vicious circle though, so I wont bother with this cause it looks no diff then many others and with views of a dev like that you can bet it will need 20 patches to get even close to any sort of state.

Well, paradox games never have any drm (I mean games developed by them, they also publish games not developed by them).
The guy (Johan? the main developer/'ceo') promised to shave his head if Victoria 2 manages to make any money (income - costs > 0)
We'll see... I'll pirate it first and might buy it if I like it. I like Vic 1 and EU series, so most likely I'll like this too. After a series of patches that is. |
It's the CEO, Fredrik, that promised to shave his head (he did).
Johan is the main developer and he didn't promise anything related.

Wrong, Victoria 2 is exceeding all expectations at this point and retail pre-orders are going very strong.

Basically all their games were bugfests at release, they matured with patches and expansions, HoI3 is no different.

I spoke too soon!
Quote: | If nothing goes wrong, we will release the demo on Fileplanet tomorrow (10th of August) at 9am PST (18.00 CET)..
Featuring fifteen years of 19th century Victorian gameplay, from 1836 and onwards, the Victoria 2 demo puts you in control of The United States of America at a crucial junction in the history of the Union. The demo covers everything you've always wanted to know about V2 -- from economy, to military, to colonization, battle and beyond -- but were afraid to ask.
While the defeat of Napoleon has brought a tentative peace to the Old World, the fate of a young republic hangs in the balance in the New. On the great, open frontier to the west, new opportunities and vast tracts of wild, free and unclaimed land, lie ripe for the taking. To the north lies Canada, and the full might of an expanding British Empire, and in the south, the little sister Republic of Texas is boldly asserting her independence against the vast and unconquered Republic of Mexico, and the armies of Santa Anna. Far away, in the distance of a future not yet realized, murmurs of revolution and secession can be heard, as a conflict between the states over the issue of black slavery looms larger with each passing month. Will the government of the people, by the people, and for the people, perish from the earth, or will a House Divided against itself stand, and become all one or the other? Featuring fifteen years of 19th century Victorian gameplay, from 1836 and onwards, the Victoria 2 demo puts you in control of The United States of America at a crucial junction in the history of the Union. The demo covers everything you've always wanted to know about V2 -- from economy, to military, to colonization, battle and beyond -- but were afraid to ask.
Basically, you will be able to play the USA in the demo. 15 years of gameplay, no save/load or MP. The tutorial is also included. |

Vic 1 + VIP mod is awesome, one of the few games I enjoy replaying often.
Vic 2 looks like a POS, as EU3 and HOI3 are. Too few events, and no real historical feeling.
Looks meh, and I really dislike what paradox's games have become...

Looks meh, and I really dislike what paradox's games have become... | EU3 is far far far far from a POS .. infact imho its better than the previous.
however i do think Arsenal of Democracy (Hoi2 on speed) is better than HOI3.
Victoria was imho the most unpolished game of paradox's games .. and it didnt become "amazing" till VIP + Revolutions.
+ The interactions between the dev and the forums have been pretty epic in regards to making vic2 (Since it was more of a pet project than anything).
Guess we will see in a few days.. however from what i have seen from previews/vids/forum its shaping up to be pretty good.

From reading some of the AARs that quote seems to be true. The Germany AAR in particular had a ton of screenshots of events.
