No, there's nothing else all that important in the Gallery. I think there was a painting that gives you a memory and a statue involved in a minor side quest but that's it. You can skip those.

ok then i get it..

do i need a no-cd crack even if a make the "complete install", maybe that's why it asks for CD2..?

Yeah, you do. CD2 must be in the drive when the game is launched...

The generic nocd patch here

http://forums.bootstrike.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1272

worked for me. I applied all mods, applied the widscreen crack, and then patched the exe with this. Works fine for me. Smile

Ok, I just finished it. Very Happy

Probably the best game I ever played. Naturally, the one with BY FAR the best story. Also, easily the best RPG ever.
And in addition to the mind-numbingly superb story, everything just works so WELL. Fighting is very rewarding, magic is very cool, graphics are good (and after a little while don't even feel dated), dialogues have plenty of options and are often very funny and extremely clever.
Oh, and don't forget to look in the list of NPCs and PCs (accessed from the same menu as the journal and quests)! There are some very nice 3d rendered stills of everything you meet in your travels.

I guess I can say nothing bad about this game. A true masterpiece.

Guess I'll disagree with you there. The story and writing is amazing but the combat was a clunky bore even when it was released (I remember getting this on my birthday when I was 13 or 14). Some of the magic spell effects where they pause the game and force you to watch is annoying too, and very console-JRPGish. This coming from a big Infinity engine fan (loved the combat in BG/IWD games).

But as a whole, the game far surpasses BG series, because of the writing and atmosphere. It really encourages you to use your imagination like a novel would. Part of me wishes for a new game in the Planescape world but the other half is grateful that Torment is the only one... especially considering the state of RPGs today.

We'll agree to disagree then!
I liked the combat in Torment a lot more than in BGII, for instance. I can't really point out why exactly. Maybe because you feel more powerful in Torment - and there are not quite as many annoying battles as in BG...
About the spells, well, I really like the effects. The spells feel like forces of nature at time. Again, far better than in BG, I think.

The combat felt too chaotic in PS, like there was no way to have a certain strategy because everything is so.. clunky/slow. The BG fights felt more epic and more strategic, at least that's the way i remember it.

No, that would be pretty much it I think. I don't think there was ever a version of SCS for PST to ramp up the combat difficulty/complexity, which is probably the one thing it really needs.

Just pick on the "Dabus" creatures for a while and the "Lady of Pain" difficulty should unlock. Very Happy

(You even get a sweet hammer out of it if you survive although I don't recommend picking on any other Dabus after that event or she tends to get a bit fiery, there's some real-doll of her you can optionally worship too later in the game should you pick it up but I've never had something happen when doing that. Very Happy )

The NDA lifts on the day they announce it, so I'll feel more free to answer questions when that happens. But for now: it's an Enhanced Edition without any new additional content. They got Chris Avellone to work as director for the game, but he felt that they should stick to polishing what was in the game rather than adding anything new.

So, everyone should manage their expectations accordingly.

Also it seems the new cover was leaked as well, which may perhaps suggest a slight revision of the original contents instead of providing new ones (always subjected to unfair criticism):

I wouldnt mind just having an updated UI.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

They didn't add new content. The writers in charge of the BG addon aren't part of the studio anymore, so that's something else positive.

If by that you mean paying for what mods already do except slightly worse? Yes.

Do they have the source assets for any of these Infinity Engine games at all?

I guess it still takes money and some skill to re-render all these 2D art assets into at least 1280x720 and ideally 3840x2160 err I mean 1920x1080 Razz
