has this been posted already? thought it was hilarious... fucking whiners eh

Quote:
Take-Two's upcoming mob sim is a "pile of racist nonsense." That's the label Italian-American service organization Unico National is pinning on Mafia II, and the group is demanding Take-Two halt plans to release the game.

In a statement, Unico president Andre DiMino accuses Take-Two of discrimination because Mafia II depicts Italian-Americans as violent criminals associated with organized crime.

"Why would [Take-Two] foist a game on their targeted audience of young people wherein they will indoctrinate a new generation into directly associating Italians and Italian-Americans with violent, murderous organized crime, to the exclusion of all of the other 'mafias' run by other ethnic and racial groups?" DiMino writes.

"Take-Two is directly, blatantly and unfairly discriminating and demeaning one group to the exclusion of all others. We are demanding they halt release of the game and cleanse it of all references to Italians and Italian-Americans."

Take-Two got word of the hubbub, and Chairman Strauss Zelnick responded with a statement of his own:

"Mafia II tells a compelling story about organized crime in America -- a subject that for decades has been featured in movies, television shows and novels," Zelnick wrote. "Neither Unico nor any other organization purporting to represent Italian-Americans has seen or played Mafia II. At Take-Two, we balance our right to free expression with what we believe is a thoughtful and responsible approach to creating and marketing our products. Mafia II is M-rated in accordance with our industry's strict standards. It is specifically not targeted toward young people."

Unico, Italian for "unique," was founded in 1922 as a service and charitable organization for Italian-Americans. The group is also speaking out against MTV reality show "Jersey Shore."

Mafia II is being developed for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PCs and is set for release on August 24.

How can you not have heard of Dean Martin or Bing Crosby? Do you at least know who Frank Sinatra was?

Since this game comes with Steamworks, I'm wondering, has there ever been a working Steamworks game release before the official release date?

I don't believe there has, since the files needs to be decrypted AND because I never heard about a Steamworks game being released early.

Well, JBeckman said that the decryption keys have been available for a month already, so I suppose it could get released early
