On another note, apparently there were only 100 of these tickets. With the car being about 55 grand, that makes the ticket worth 2 * 55.000 = 110.000 / 100 = $1100. Nice bargain

That's some tough luck.
Gotta say though $200 for a raffle ticket you own and only have a 1/100 chance of getting any return on is a hard offer to turn down.
But still...

Top Gear did it in 2007 mate. The 2010 version has got proper suspension, and it looks different as well

Its american, handles like a cow, is fast in a strait line, has an engine big enough for a small jet plane etc etc etc
Edit
From one of the review pages you linked:
"The GT500's favorite type of road, however, is the one that is very straight, very long and very deserted"

Handles like a cow - have you driven it? No-one else is saying it handles badly (even less VERY badly).
It is fast in a straight line, is that a complaint?
5.7L isn't exactly huge by todays standards
Calling the GT500 a "shitty car" is just uneducated talk. There ARE BETTER CARS out there, but the GT500 is still a GOOD CAR.
Plus, it's a beast to tune, you can make crazy ammounts of power without spending a fortune, not having to replace bottom-end parts etc.

People seem to think time has been standing still in the car industry?
The later generation Mustangs, Camaros and ESPECIALLY Corvettes handles and drives pretty damn well. As I said, especially the Corvettes, which beat Ferraris that are twice the price (and more expensive to own, and require more servicing etc) on the track. Amazing performance and value for the price.
Yes, in the past, American performance cars hasn't exactly shined in the track performance-category, but if you'd read up on things lately, things are different. I know of one Swedish guy who runs a performance shop in Miami, FL - and he has over 20 examples where late gen Camaros with a few bolt-on mods whips Porsches on the local tracks. And it's still thousands of dollars cheaper than the Porsches.
What's more is, the 2011 Mustang GT (which is SLOWER than the '11 GT500) is as fast as a 2011 BMW M3!
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/1010_2011_2011_ford_mustang_gt_vs_2011_bmw_m3_comparison/index.html
And the M3 is 2/3 more expensive than the GT, and it also has a higher power-to-weight ratio. Imagine spending the money differnce between the two on the GT - the M3 wouldn't have a chance on any track or test.
So yes, things have happened in the last few years, and people should start realizing that times are changing.
It's also the same thing that happened when the R35 GT-R came out - costed less than the latest Corvette Z06 and was faster. The long posts and threads you could read when the GT-R set the 7.26-time on the Nordschleife.. it was ridiculous. Some people just didn't want to belive that Nissan could do it, with a car that didn't cost atleast over a $100k..
