Performance issues (for many, many people the game uses GPU at minimum output) and memory leaks resulting in unplayable game in mid and later stages of the play.

Anyone read the novel? Is it good?


Epsilon: Game is great btw, I love it, so far it's a definite goty. It's remarkable how much has changed since the beta, stardock have been working their asses off, and it shows.

After installing patch 1.06 I can't even play the game, the graphics renderer crashes and leaves me with a yellowish screen whenever theres supposed to be something rendered, so while I can see the ui, I can't see the world Razz
This is an outrage. Mad

Edit: fixed by reinstalling the entire game through impulse, something must've gone wrong between 1.05 to 1.06 update.

You need all 3 of them. 1.01, 1.05 fixed and 1.06

The Elemental Forums announce the release of a new patch through Impulse for Elemental: War of Magic to update the turn-based strategy game to version 1.06, "now with 100% more hotfix." The new version addresses a "white screen" issue and fixes some memory problems along with other fixes and some balance changes. Thanks PC Gamer, where they follow-up on their complaints saying "the game is finally stable."

HAd to laugh about the 100% more hotfix

** Hotfix Update **

We've released a 1.06 hotfix - despite our intentions were to have 1.06 be more supportive of 1.05 saved games, things didn't work as planned and we were seeing a lot of oddities throughout the forums.

The hotfix will force the player to start with the new data, ensuring validity of key components (read: less crashy).

Yes. Big thing with 1.06 is that is breaks old savegames. So if you are really into your current game, delay patching for later.


P.S.
Using old Eemental.exe from 1.05 skidrow crack is a good workaround, if you really need to finish old savegame. That way only data files are updated to 1.06, while binary is 1.05.

After installing the 1.5 hotfix and the 1.6 patch the game gets stuck on the loading screen when starting a new game.
Do you have to install all the other patches as well?

Worst part is this actually makes PCGamers remark valid - wait a bit with buying this. Or buy it and leave it on a desk for a week, or your saves wont work Smile

<3 Stardock and the team behind this, but breaking saves is a no-no. Breaking saves and having a hissy fit is a even bigger one Razz

when i try to launch the multiplayer it tell that require for an update and i have already updated the game with this crappiest files. it is again another heap of bugged fully nuked p2p shit. good the repacked hotfixbugcrap v1.05. anyway enough fun to see a bunch of repacks of dumbass SHITROW. they are actives in these days Very Happy

None of the Skidrow cracks beyond 1.01 work for me. 1.05 and 1.06 both give me an error saying "Elemental has detected a corrupt patch. Please update to the current version by logging onto your Impulse account."

If you're getting that message I'd recommend... not letting it access the internet after patching. If you're trying to get it to work over multiplayer... that obviously won't be a good thing Cool Face

Actually, their 1.06 release does include hotfix. It was the one that disabled old saves compatibility.

That's because MP is not finished yet. When it gets running in week or so (according to official sources), we'll get another patch that enables it.

Oh, wait, Jesse just fixed some code and is now seeing a 10-20 fps boost...so apparently there WAS a silver bullet...and apparently he’s saving the details for his own change log But good news, regardless! (jesse: so hovering over a city that used to give me 25fps now gives me 42-43)

pfft,

copy over original exe and dll etc first before u patch again from 1.05 to 1.06 that is how to do it. otherwise a cracked exe is noticed and ur file patching might go a bit haywire maybe,.

worked for me that way.

Impulse compares any modified files and overwrites them, if Skidrow used a custom installer it's probably just to pack the files, Impulse won't patch unless needed so 1.01 will have files that 1.05 don't and the same between 1.05 to the hotfix to 1.06 to the hotfix for that and of course any releases of these patches so that's why you need all of them.
(Apparently there's a bug in the 1.05 patch first released by Skidrow as well with the /gfx/ folder content being misplaced, something like /gfx/gfx or some such.)

Sounds like this isn't even worth the bandwidth, least of all actual money.

Suddenly Stardock seems like Paradox on a bad day.

However, if some people are complaining about broken savegames on 1.06, then it means the game has to be at least somewhat playable in the first place. But enough that some prefer to keep their current, buggier game instead of sacrificing it for stability's sake? Confused
