the first one was pretty shit.only some great reviews from you guys here will make me dld it
An odd comment on a site that discusses all things piratey. You lose anything by downloading it? If it's really crap, you haven't lost anything apart from 7-8GB of bandwidth. If it's great buy it.
I say this because the first one was great, throw-away fun, so the sequel has to better ...doesn't it?
No, because it has Ubisoft DRM. Buy it when they release a patch to remove that shit.
Shame that will never happen. Spidey and I were talking about it the other day, about how Sega has shutdown all the servers for the PS2/PC version of Phantasy Star Universe. They shut the servers down, but did they release a patch to remove the bullshit "you must be online to play this game!!!!" from singleplayer mode? Nope
Everytime a publisher claims they'll release a patch to remove protection should their servers ever go down, I just roll my eyes in disbelief.
Not that we'd ever want to replay these crappy Ubisoft games anyway,
but we'll always have Skidrow repackshit in times of shame when we want to reinstall.

Not without a net connection (or a bypass ) as Sega uses GameGuard on the entire product, Single and Multiplayer portions, which can't initiate without a net connection. If it can't initiate, the game refuses to load.
I was so pissed off with this a while back that I actually spent a few HOURS on my piece of crap mobile phone internet (this was 2+ years ago), intercepting all the GameGuard calls for certain files, downloading them direct from GG servers, then running a loopback emulator via Hosts and Apache Webserver in order to "simulate" a GameGuard presence
Normally I prefer buying games that are worth playing more than a few hours. But even if Hawk 2 was worth playing more than a minute, I just can't support Ubisoft and their outrageous DRM requiring internet all the time.
I sometimes happen to play games on a Laptop which is not always connected to the net. And if I play a game, which of course my laptop is strong enough to play, I want to be able to play it there. Internet or not! (ok, mmo's are excused )
So I can only support piracy on this title. I wouldn't even support Ubisoft when a patch was out. That only shows them that people will buy their DRM games anyways. I am not every again throwing a single dime after them again. unfortunately I did so in the past.
I enjoyed it; played the entire game co-op with a mate. Pretty much any game is fun with a buddy. I wouldn't give it any awards and the voice acting was cheesy shite, but it was, like I said, throw-away fun. Each to his own I suppose. I think 'atrocity' is a bit harsh though...
I am wondering why UBISOFT did not learn how to make cool intros for this franchise, as even in hawx 1, I found the in game intros a crap not speaking of the promo intro.
In hawx 2, the startup intro is also low budgeted, and the sound effects... terrible.
Everything else is good however.
I burned the dvd, with the custom layer break, but when I put it in the XBOX, it doesn't recognize it. Did I botch the burn, or is it that my XBOX OS is too old (2 years old)?
HAWX 1 was terrible, an atrocity. It looked good but played like a dumb Afterburner-arcade game.
i finished part 2 and its EVEN worse , dumb shit story that's viewed from every possible ass point of view you can view IT, just to justify the amount of jets you can fly against...
it sucks ,
and wow they delayed Beyond of Good&Evil 2 to make this shit that they call a AAA title good god that's

Agreed. I loved the first one, but #2 was just crap A serious case of "jumping the shark!" at the end. Really, I shouldn't even spoiler this since it would save people from wasting their time... but meh;
Spoiler:
The last level has you dodging SPACE LASER BEAMS as you try to shoot down tons of massive nuclear missiles.. then, in a classic case of "We just killed off a main character, cry for her!" bullshit, one of your team-mates crashes into a bunker, blowing a hole in it so you can fly through. You fly into it like it's the fucking trenches on the DeathStar, blow up a nuclear missile while it's still in the hanger, and then fly out - riding the flames.
Urgh. The game is seriously crap compared to the first one. The writing is B-movie drivel, the plot is completely nonsensical and practically everything is ripped straight out of the first game... then made worse. I was flying the last few missions and I swear, I kept thinking; "Umm, what the hell? Haven't I already done these before? I'm SURE I've played this game before!" I paused it twice just to make sure it WAS the sequel and not some prank the scene had pulled.
Remember the mission in the first one that had you following your ERS through some glowing forcefield in order to plot a course for dodging flak? It's back in #2. I-fucking-dentical mission. It's really sad. Or the mission that had you fending off a huge army of tanks/flak/planes while they assault the city? It's back, only this time you're fending them off while they assault the city... uhhh, I mean, the Kremlin. I-fucking-dentical. Oh and remember the, once unique, "UAV/AC-130" controlling missions from MW? Pfft, there's no less than FIVE of these types of missions in this, ranging from blowing shit up with an AC-130, to - I kid you not - following a car and hovering over it just to hear what the driver is saying. FUCK UAVs! I wanna fly my fucking jets!
Graphics are, I'm sad to say, APPALLING. Ubisoft used GeoEye (Quick, let's product place during the missions! "Ok pilots, using our GeoEye2 (TM!) imagery, we now have absolutely flawless regional mapping!!!111") but forgot to wait for the fucking thing to load properly before copy/pasting all the textures, as they're so low-res and blurry it almost hurts the eyes to look at them. Plane models are "ok", but other arcade-style flight games like Ace Combat and Blazing Angels PISSES all over them any way. The framerate, on the 360 version, is also absolutely disgusting - noticeable drops to low 20s, and probably lower, during heavy action or scenes with lots of (and I use the word loosely) "detail"
Audio is painfully bad, with the engines of the jets sounding more like hissing snakes than the roar of a 280,000bhp fighter JET - weapon SFX are equally as bad, though the voice acting is pretty decent.
Planes handle like shit compared to the first game and a lot of the dogfights will literally just consist of you playing merry-go-round with your opponent, as you chase each other in circles - too close for missiles and too "all over the place" for guns. The game allows you to have "AssOff" mode enabled from the start and the "new" mechanics of landing/taking off are nicely done .. shame the mid-air fueling is an arduous crock of shit. I do, however, like the progression system in this; allowing you to unlock, and further customise, new planes with RPG-style skills and weapon loadouts .... shamefully it's only useful in online mode or the "Arcade/Survival" single mission stuff. No campaign support for progression or new planes, you have to be content with them shoving you into a brand new plane for each and every mission.
... all in all; I'd say avoid this unless you're absolutely desperate. Stick to Ace Combat or Blazing Angels if you want a good "arcade" style flight combat fix.
4/10 and that's being generous.
