So does that mean we only need the 1.07 patch?

Impulse patches what needs to be updated instead of full patch archives or installers being downloaded, same with Steam, most likely this will require the previous (released via scene or similar.) updates to be complete and function as intended.

Yes, it was 0.0.0.0.
As for the crack, new one in 1.07 doesn't alter anymore ImpulseReactor.dll, only Elemental.exe and ReactorActivate.exe.

Well, yes, good honesty, but you cannot really say what essentially amounts to "yep, the game's fucked beyond repair!" Besides crushing consumer trust, it negates everything he said about releasing patches and gradually fixing the game!
PS: So is SKIDROW's 1.07 release stand-alone? I hate having to install eleventibillion sequential patches: reminds me of Company of Heroes.

That's exactly what he didn't say
"Stardock will be working on Elemental for years to come. Literally. Let me be specific: Stardock will NOT release a new game next year. It'll all be Elemental related."

Yeah, I... jumped the gun and then realized he hadn't excluded large patches from the equation.

So, is it worth it to install the game with the latest patch or wait for..2011?

I've decided to wait. As the CEO said, the core mechanics are not working and the patches so far are just compatibility fixes. Maybe in six to twelve months...

Yes, it even says so in NFO.

Yes, same as the last three patches.
Yet people here have insisted all of them have to be installed, in proper order.

Not really. Other patches don't say anything explicitly. This one does.

I really did enjoy the game at first... but the bugs and shortcomings become very apparent the longer you play it. I love the idea. Don't mind that i spent the money on it believe it or not. I really do think it will become great. And if not, hopefully they release the python code or whatever they need to do to allow the community to fully mod the game into something great. Saw someone post this on the official forum and I concur.

Yes, he should keep all the staff and pay them with unsold Elemental copies.
Seriously, what else could he done? It's clear that the company didn't had the money to pay everyone.

I'm having a lot of fun with this, finished a full game with 2 ctd's (looked like mem leak or so) No performance problems, just a few combat rounds getting stuck forcing me to auto resolve, which I hate to do. The main problem for me is the challenge of the AI, it just don't seem to be able to 'create' suitable units compared to what I can do, or move around the map that great without getting stuck or confused. Once you get a strong enough army it's pretty much steamroll.

Quote: | Joystiq has been informed by a source that this is only the first round of layoffs at Stardock and that the final count will be about 20 people. We've also been told the "games team itself is/was only 15 people big," so the layoffs will affect others at the company and outside contract workers. Survivors of the cuts will allegedly include the game's producer, art lead, and two lead developers. The source claims, "All of the posts [Wardell] has made in our public forums about how the games team is funded by our commercial software development and that Elemental was not rushed out the door for monetary reasons is a lie. These people are getting laid off due to poor sales and Stardock's inability to pay back the capital investors that funded Elemental's development." |

Oh, ok, now an update:
Frogboy wrote: | This is really bizarre on many levels. I wasn't aware that Stardock had investors (outside of me) and have to wonder what this "source" thinks paid for Elemental in the first place (oh wait, the "investors"). I'm skeptical that this person is connected to Stardock. Joystiq should be careful with this kind of thing - not to mention, I can't imagine anyone from Stardock (present or former employee) would behave in that way. |
Frogboy wrote: | The people we've laid off did nothing wrong either. A DB manager, A receptionist, A QA tester, a developer, a designer, a sales executive and a web designer. I know each and every one of them. Each one is a great person, a hard worker, an outstanding employee that any company would be lucky to have. And I wish I could say this was going to be the end of it but it isn't and everyone here at work knows it and it sucks. |

seems like everything is just getting overblown out of proportion with all this he said she said crap, anyway i am shelving the game for the next 3-4 months, it needs a full expansion pack size patch to make it FUN for me to want to continue playing it.
At least my pewter dragon and canvas map are nice.
