I'm sorry, I just can't take something like this seriously. It's exactly the same retarded thing as putting "3D" when a third sequel. Why not call it "F3AR 3D The Third Strike III: " and be done with it?
I blame this one idiots that use numbers instead of letters. Y3s, y0u kn0w wh0 y0u @r3, "m8".
F.E.A.R 3's credentials are certainly impressive. Halloween director and all-round horror movie legend John Carpenter has signed up for story duties - alongside 30 Days of Night man Steve Niles.
Just checked out the list of games that Monolith produced and they have a very good track record (imho)
Blood, 1997 - Was a laugh and nice game play. Classic
Shogo, 1998 - Awesome game, where's Shogo 2?!?
NOLF, 2000 - Brilliant!!!
AvP2, 2001 - Again, brilliant!
NOLF2, 2002 - Really good, not as good as NOLF1 though
TRON 2.0, 2003 - Very very good
FEAR, 2005 - I loved it
Condemned, 2005 - Loved it
FEAR2, 2009 - Really liked it
Out of 16 releases I love 9. And there are some classics I somehow missed and haven't checked out (Sanity: Aikens Artifact).

And yes, the F.3.A.R title is insanely dumb!!!
It's only one letter shy of F.U.3.A.R
the 3 being a "B" for those who are intranets spellars challenged.

Really? For me it was just huge step back from the original, in all aspects from graphics to gameplay to story.
True, especially the shooting sessions and how the devs radically changed (in worse) the slow motion combat. As for the graphics, do you remember the long debate about the lack of objects shadows in FEAR 2 in order to allow the game to run smoothly on consoles?
Played the beginning for a bit yesterday on X360. Graphics were very pixelated, but it ran smooth. Textures weren't pretty, but then again I was pretty lose to the screen.
And they still have time to improve it, right?

Oh judging by this video from GC this looks so fracking cheap and bad and consolish (ok we knew that)... Bullet slow mo effect are like hand drawned.... Really awful
The delay is probably due to chickening out in front of the release of other more popular titles, as they know their game will be mediocre at best and will be raped saleswise.
About a week ago I played through the original and the two expansions. And while the expansions were nowhere near the original story they were enjoyable, especially the first.
I started the 2nd game after that but gave up in the middle of the hospital level. It's too scary looking at the objects and seeing no shadows.

Fear 1: fantastic, (though a bit repetitive) 9.5/10
Fear XP: nice, but where's the damn story? 8/10
Fear PM: different playstyle, but not necessarily better, just fresh. Everything else sucks 5/10
Fear 2: Good enough FPS, but a step back from Fear 8/10
Fear 2 reborn: I enjoyed it a bit better than Fear 2 because of Fettel, the different HUD, etc 8.5/10
Fear 3 (prediction): it looks worse than I could ever imagine, 6/10
