putting the cmd C:\temp i6comp l data2.cab

Dont bother with the "i6comp l data2.cab" command, it's useless if you want english language.

Just copy and paste this and it will give you a english-only version:

i6comp d data2.cab 90 datav_fr.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 91 datas_fr.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 92 datav_de.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 93 datas_de.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 94 datav_it.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 95 datas_it.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 96 datav_es.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 97 datav_es.dat

Simple as that.

Here is the link for the bonus map that you got if you pre-ordered the game.

http://www.atari-downloads.com/actofwar/Bonus_Map_and_patch.zip

Also, does anyone know what the patch fixes, and if the v1.0 crack works?

No AJ-.
All of us have used "i6comp d data2.cab 90 datav_fr.dat" stated in the first post about this fix and not data1.cab and it have worked, so that's how you shuld do it.
No clue why it isn't working for him but he is obviously doing something wrong.

Okay, fair enough, but i've used i6comp before, many times, and I used it to rip this DVD9 to DVD5 and the command i used was:

i6comp d data1.cab 90 datav_fr.dat
etc. etc.

This is more logical than using data2.cab because the cabs are simply spanned from 1 to 5 (or however many) so if you specify data1.cab, it will find the files whatever specific cab they are in.

Perhaps it will work for him.

Maybe you just use the wrong version of i6comp?
Where did you get it? From this link http://myplc.com/sony/bin/i6comp.zip?
If not, get that one and try.

By the way, I think this shuld be continued in the technical place.

Are we supposed to just ignore the CRC error that occurs during installation? I couldn't finish the installation otherwise. But I started the game up and it got to the main menu, so, I believe it's working. I just didn't see anyone else mention the CRC error.

CRC errors are common. They occur during extraction of the iso from the RAR's. Then when you go to install the game, you'll get a CRC error as you did. Most installers don't allow you to skip them though.

Re-extract the iso and do nothing else on your computer until it has finished. Its a very common bug. The CRC fuckup will most likely cause a problem further along in the game on whichever file it messed up on.

Always extract the iso and install it before burning deleting it.

Here's a step by step to rip the game. The example is base on my PC and the path where i put it.

Download i6comp here http://myplc.com/sony/bin/i6comp.zip?

1) extract i6comp.zip where you extract the iso (D:\Act of War DVD)
2) Click on Start--> all programs--> accessories--> command prompt
3) type the letter of the drive where you extract everything (D: )
4) now you should have D:\>
5) type i6comp l data2.cab
*if its not working go in your folder D:\Act of War DVD\Release and copy i6comp.exe and paste it in D:\Act of War DVD then restart the command prompt and retype the command at 5)

6) Type those lines to remove foreign language (french, german, italian, spanish)

i6comp d data2.cab 90 datav_fr.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 91 datas_fr.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 92 datav_de.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 93 datas_de.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 94 datav_it.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 95 datas_it.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 96 datav_es.dat

i6comp d data2.cab 97 datav_es.dat

7) When its all done just burn it by making a data DVD with the label AOW or make another ISO

*note that you are allowed to leave 1 other language there so you can have english/german or english/french....

I didnt delete anything else exept for german/italian/spanish and the file size was 4gig.

Hope this will help you.

Seriously, do we really need ~4 posts that say the same exact thing? Smile

I'm having a blast playing this by the way. Cant remember when I had this much fun with a RTS game before. It's alot better than command & conquer in my opinion, problary the best war RTS I have ever played.

Well some ask for a step by step cause for those who are not use to do things like that might get confuse and frustraded...so i made a step by step for those since nobody made a clear friendly one.

The most annoying thing about this game is how the movie volume is WAY lower than the game volume. I always have to strain my ears just to hear what they are saying. Either that or I have to turn up the volume during movies. I wonder why they have such a large difference in volume between the two.
