That is probably because for people to fuck around after the story they have to pay extra.
Another reason why people arent happy is because its pretty obvious that this DLC has been ripped out of the original game.
@maul_inc
YA the last DLC wil prolly be utter crap and at the end you get a 1 minut cutscene showing the ending to Mafia 2.

That's because it should have been there DURING the actual storyline and not some kind of sidestory or some poo like that. The DLC missions would have been ace if they were implemented while playing as vito and during the actual game, and then when you've finished it you can just mock around some more in freeroam.

How so? It offers a completely different style of play concentrated on getting points for car tricks, headshots, etc. Mafia 2 is aimed to be a "realistic" experience, with certain exceptions like regenerative health.

A lot of the assets are already in the base game which might be one reason but it's a bit different in style compared to the main game and as far as I know was made with the intention of being separate / DLC in the first place (Though some like the car charger and decal stuff could have been left alone.).
(The chapter load mod for example allows you to load the 0Sony chapter which is a placeholder for a Jimmy DLC and it lists all JA chapters including the freeroam one which could be Joe's Adventure, Freeroam chapter itself was never finished though while it can be enabled it's a bit buggy.)

Well, I think it's obvious that they needed to test it, so they left some pieces of code from Jimmy's Vendetta in retail Mafia 2. Hell, GTA IV contains some code from GTA:SA or GTA:VC.

Heh , the most pathetic thing about the DLC is the complete lack of any narrative , sure Jimmy might bitch about how he was locked up at the begginig but that's that , the rest are some writing and images , coming from a rich series with a great narrative flow this is fucking stupid .
Sure , there is a cutscene at the end showing him pouring gasoline on the place but other than that it's just text . Some missions feel like they were part of a storyline , but it's fucking pointles to even consider about the story when you're doing the same shit every fucking time , it's pure grinding .
I guess the mission i'll always remember in this game was sneaking in that office building , other than that most of the shit is not very memorable compared to the first game , and the more you play the more frustrating the lack of any public transportation gets.
Overhead metro , tram , cab , they were all in first game. It's just unrealistic to not have these things in a large city like Empire Bay.
Sure , it's mostly bawwwww , nostalgia , but the more gaming moves forwards the more arcade-ish it becomes , from a real challange to something easily conquerable in a very short time span , for retards.
I guess at 22 i'm just oldfashioned about what i want in games what the general audience wants.
Too bad tho , once i played the game i considered buying it , until i realized it's just incomplete , chopped up from a glorious former self , if there was any in the first place.

The free-ride extreme mode was different in terms of design how exactly?

Using the train had to be done for one mission(Moonlighting with Paulie), and 99% of people bitched about it because it was "slow" |
neah , i did use it , not on the first playthrough tho
oh and Freeride extrme was acutally fun , didnt feel like a grinding game

Damn people! They are never satisfied and always complaining!
- put the tram in => tram is slow
- take out the tram => people bitch about it.
It ain't easy being a developer, eh.

Comletely diffrent? They added a point system for drifting, killing and speeding your car thats it.
This entire leaderboard point scoring thing would have been perfect for a free ride mode in Mafia 2.
There isnt rly a story in this DLC and the missions that you do would have worked perfectly as side missions in Mafia 2.
For example several missions in this DLC are about stealing cars/trucks those would have worked perfectly as missions for Bruski.
Further the lack of an actual story etc makes it pretty obvious to me that this was rushed and that what this DLC offers is (part) of what was ripped out of Mafia 2.

Derik and Bruski were made up for side mission it's pretty OBVIOUS they cut off all side missions for the sake of DLC

It was free and came with the game. They didnt remove it form Mafia 2 and then later charge 7.99 euro for it.

Like I said, How was it different in design? Pricing and DLC status don't change that both Jimmys Vendetta and Freeride Extreme are pretty much the same in terms of design.

I saw their cracked update and got that but didn't expect a fix, interesting and useful to know.
(Time to find that then, shouldn't take more than a few minutes. ./EDIT: Done.)

Any release must contain at least a crackfix and/or a repack, even if the game doesn't necessarily need it. It's the basic rule at the SKIDROW headquarters.
