Old consoles were a bit different, sure I was younger but I struggled a lot with titles like Faxandu, not to mention titles for the Snes from Chrono Trigger to FF to Wizardry 1 - 3 compilation and many others.
(Still playing a bit via emulators and translations like Secret of Mana and others.)
Though some say the games were more difficult to counterbalance the limited storage and thus game size / length / content something like that but still some of those games were pretty lengthy.
EDIT: Ultima was on Snes as well wasn't it?
(Early Might and Magic 1 - 3 games might have been on Nes as well and Eye of the Beholder plus others on Snes again.)

Oh boy, I stopped reading at "Lionhead Studios' dream for Fable III is "to create a world that both core and casual gamers can play in"

Huh? Fable made people feel stupid?
(Not played the second one but compared to other RPG's Fable 1 wasn't anywhere near complex, was a fun game though but also very linear and simple.) |
Fuck it... I give up.

Fuck it... I give up. | news flash from 2011 "Pirates are to blame for the PC weak sales" said Molyneux "but from now we think 360 exclusives is the way to go, after we saw our game sold 5mln copies on 360, we think we can do better with kinetic dlc"

X-Box360 users who pre-order the game from certain places gets a little tool to play with in order to create a unique NPC for their own game when it's released later on.
http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=64969
(Kinda like Spore Creature Creator then or Sims 3 Create A Sim stand-alone utility.)
Funny marketing strategy though at least they don't make a special demo only for those who pre-order or some such strange exclusive offer.
(Same goes for beta tests though most of the time it's more about bandwith testing and quick MP statistics than proper testing and similar though sometimes it's possible to get good feedback from it as well.)

Indeed.
Anyway I didn't expect a

which basically means several months after the console version.
I have never been really tempted to buy the game, but now I'm totally sure: I'll pirate it the hell and back!

They're promoting Kinnect no doubt, perhaps it'll even be a launch title for it thus promoting sales and console sales over what could have been influenced if the PC version had also been available alongside, less piracy that way as well I'd guess or so they see it.
(A larger actual game aside from the various other extras and stuff currently available that is.)

Intro video, bit funny, pre-rendered CG though it uses game assets as well like character models and such.
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/64999
(Well most intro movies are, some are done in-game though you can do stuff above what most systems can handle this way via an example like say some of the Star-Craft 2 cinematics to use a recent title, some movies are entirely pre-rendered whereas others use a mix of rendered backgrounds but 3D character models in-game.)
(A more famous example might perhaps be better such as Final Fantasy 7 and up.)
EDIT: Well that proved to be not the case.

The whole morphing weapons sounds retarded. I take it we're only going to get 2-3 weapons of each type, and use them for the whole game as they will never go bad.

And, worse, is that some of them are locked away until you level them up and then... GIFT THEM TO A CO-OP BUDDY! What in the seven layers of fuck!?

I don't know if anyone is interested, but seems that the game has been programmed with the PC in mind:
Quote: | Kinect and the technology behind it is truly amazing and it definitely can be used to push any experience including the combat in a game like Fable," he said. "However you're going to have to wait to see the amazing things we do with Kinect."
Kinect support in Fable III was originally planned as a launch feature, before recently being changed to a post-release update.
Lionhead overlord Peter Molyneux said the delay was because early versions of Kinect gameplay were apparently not "what people expect Kinect to be in a game like Fable". Let's hope the final features are more than just odd mini-games then. |

its like they lost all of their inspiration and started jumping on the dumbest ideas as quick as they could to release the same game over again. i get sick of Microsoft making sequels that are more like addons to the original game.

The above SS make it look like a PS2 game from 2006...
1 and 2 are still amazing.
