i think amnesia would port to x360 very well
there's no aiming anywhere or anything useless like that
plus the pad rumble could be used to scare the player

Seriously what would be the problem with a 360 port?
The graphics aren't any special, good you'll need a good sound system and a big screen. But the button configuration and the analog sticks should make it playable without much of a hassle :/

Although i agree the majority of console players are derps (i know some), the truth is, this game would work fine in that market. They devs might sell out after some sucess, but that's another subject.
Don't forget Demon's Souls. How did such a difficult unforgiving game become such a success in the ps3?

yes, 99% of console games are crap..
yes, every shooting game is always made unplayable by the controls, or atleast artificially hard
yes, the typical console player is an impatient derp with intellectual capacity of a mushroom
but that doesn't mean the platform is inherently evil or bad
games with gameplay mechanics fitting the controller are perfect for it
for a 3d example see arkham asylum.. the gameplay is 1:1 the same on pc and console, and it doesn't need improvement on neither
amnesia would work very well on a console as there's almost nothing a pc would be superior in that would impact on gameplay
sure, you can turn faster and aim faster.. but you can't shoot anything, so what's the point?
penumbra games probably wouldn't work as you actually need to aim to throw stuff in that, but it's been a while since i've played it so i might be wrong
plus frictional will go under if amnesia isn't a hit and i'd really like to see more of their games
i hope they atleast look into it |
If you want to play this game with a controller, go get Xpadder.

They'd go under faster if they spend resources porting a game to a platform nobody will buy it on. It'd be a massive headache for them. First consider the fact they're using OpenGL so porting to mac/linux was trivial but the Xbox doesn't use OpenGL so they'd have to port over their rendering engine to something the Xbox can run. Not a trivial task.

Game wasn't totally scaring me at first. However, after going through the storage area for fixing the elevator, and now that i'm down in the dungeons along with my sanity level being '...' game is scary as fuck.
If you don't think a game like this is scary it's because you aren't spending enough time with it. It seems many people don't understand the concept of trying to 'get into the game' and instead rush through it. Obviously, if you plow through it it won't seem as scary since you are immersing yourself in the enviroment.

Paradox released the Penumbra games.
As for the game itself; I made my way through Penumbra with some traumatic effects. At times I'd like to see myself as a "badass muffukhu", but evidently I'm not. Takes ages for me to get anywhere in this game. Well crafted though!

For me personally it took me at about 8 hours without any rushing through the levels. Slowly-paced gameplay just as it was intended it to be.

Just finished it in almost 8 hours of play, and it was great. The atmosphere was amazing, as well of the sense of oppression and fear, and also the "puzzles" were logical and rewarding (though not extremely mindfucking,
which is good). Easily a 8.5/10 for me.

The options (advanced settings.) can be fine tuned in terms of motion blur and similar post-processing effects if you need to disable anything specific and though they are part of the atmosphere but people react differently and so effects like nausea or motion sickness can happen, better to disable the effect then I guess instead of feeling sick or downright ill, I guess that's one of the reason the opinions on depth of field, blur and motion blur are so varied.
(Different implementations yield different results as well of course, some look much better whereas others are softer or stronger and so on, fake depth of field used as distance blur like in Gothic 3 or accurate versions like say Call of Juarez plus blur and object based motion blur via DX10 enhancements in say Lost Planet or Crysis making stuff a bit fussy compared to traditional effects where everything is just blurred when in motion.)

I've discovered 3 endings so far, and I guess that's pretty much all?
Spoiler: | For the first ending I had to knock down the three pylons that are in the orb chamber.
For the second ending I had to make the potion for the good doctor and then chuck his severed head into the portal ( requires that you do not knock down the pylons.
As for the third ending.. well.. just dont do anything in the orb room after you've triggered the event. |
