I don't think the level up system is used for anything? (in single player that is).

Hi
I have mounted the game, run setup and it asks me for an activation key before the game is installed. The key is not in the nfo file. What am I doing wrong? I use the rld-ruse.iso.
I am on Win7 32 bit.

Love the game. The AI can actually be challenging, which is great.
Money well spent.

This game is actually enjoyable, a little addictive one might say, fun nontheless.
Now, I've only played against AI for... reasons and every game so far has turned out to be an incredible fest of mass death. I put a stalemate in every city or forest I can find and when reaching late-game you simply pump out artillery like there's no tomorrow and pound the never ending stream of enemy tanks rolling to a certain end. It's fun the first time when you get to see the katyushas do synchronized firing but let's face it; it's a stalemate.
Late game also means there's bottomless supply of planes swirling around the enemy base – and occassionally crosses the line just to get shot down by a doomstack with at least 40 pieces of AA to pick 'em out of the sky and this irk me beyond belief.
I realize you can set the era to 1942 which stops you from using them administrative building but at the same time you lose invaluable equipment (if playing Germany for example), such as the wirbelwind which is vital unless you want your tanks to turn into smoldering heaps of scrap metal half-way to their goal.
I'm not asking for much, all I want to know if you guys have bunked up on good strategies? Over all or nation specific doesn't matter. I really can't stand another 2h deadlock against my own computer.

The french are, by far, the very best for breaking through heavy defenses. Their prototype super-heavy tanks along with the armored assault guns and armored recon, there's nothing that can stop them.
Downside is it takes a while to get these units.

Truth! The french are pretty good though I feel a little like having a straitjacket on when playing them. Haven't actually found a favourite team so far but the americans are a nice allround team.
Obviously it becomes a whole different thing playing it online – which I suppose it's meant for. Playing against hard AIs on 1942 all you need is a massive air-fleet, bomb their AA and use the fighters as escorts for your bombers and well... you win!
An early game tactic I've found quite likable so far is to put 2 AA, AT and infantry in a forest, preferably with a scout too, but apart from that I haven't really got any tactics worth speaking of.
While I'm on tactics (third time's a charm?) which build order do you guys use? I prefer to get my AA going fast and then tanks (AT if Germany) and hope for the best. I usually don't care for air superiority until mid-game, by then you ought to have enough AA coverage simply by placing them in pairs around the woods too.

During the beta I usually went with AA first, but that's changed. I usually put up a Blitz in my starting sector, then build 3-4 supply depots, depending on the map. Along with that I put up a barracks and build around 10 squads of inantry, and send them out in the nearby forests and cities. After that, it all depends on the faction really. As France I usually just do that, and then save up for a prototype base, as prototypes are the only good things in the french army. My god though, are they good. If I'm going against a tank-heavy opponent, I usually put some cheap recon in the forests along with a few AT guns. Add some AA to that if there's a need.
Most people focusing on air don't realize that recon is a must for effective bombing though. If you have bombers without recon coming for you, just throw up a quick camo netting and he can't do shit.

Is it in anyway similar to Men of War?
EDIT: Just saw the gameplay video...and no it is not. Looks kinda like World in Conflict a bit...

I'm in the middle of a game right now. Playing Italy and are allied with Germany against the U.S and France. I've kind of realized that picking Italy was a bad choice in a way; can they assault at all? Playing 1942 so I've got no extra goodies such as mobile AA or tanks better than the Carro M15 and we all know that Italy has the worst tanks in the game making me a bit reluctant to go head on with my enemies who are massing up Shermans and B1 BIS'.
I was hoping that the germans would make a push since they've got nice and shiny tanks. Well, they are doing it... sporadically while I'm repelling enemy attacks with a whole bunch of OBICE 210mm batteries, but there it ends. Any suggestions of what to make out of the italians assault-wise?

Really nice game! Player 3 skirmish battles so far and I'm loving it! Playing against an easy enemy is quite easy, but medium is alot more challenging, which I really like. So far my favourite nation to play with is Germany, because of their überpowerfull tanks and their large calliber (flak)cannons. Gonna start with the campaign soon, hoping that the first few missions won't be boring 'tutorial' missions. Apart from the Ruses you can use the mechanics aren't any more different then 9/10 of the RTS's, so it's not that difficult to control the game when you've played dozens of other RTS games.

Italy has one of the best AT/AA units in the game. The mobile 90mm gun can 1-shot any medium tank, and a group of them makes short work of King Tigers. They can also shoot down any plane with ease.
They also get decent assault guns. Other than that though, they're not very good at anything apart from guerilla warfare.
Oh, they also get the best artillery unit.
