The REG hack works great when you mount the image with Deamon tools, i even burn a data DVD with the image on it, installed it by mounting image on the DVD and that works great too

Seeing you guys get the game to work using the "reg hack" method that I referred to in my earlier post I had one more stab at it this afternoon - tryed the game on no less than 3 different gaming rigs all with totally different setups without success then in one final attempt worked my way through one system uninstalling things that werent necessary and testing if the game then worked.

Eventually narrowed it down to 2 things either a codec pack or stardocks skinning apps and after ascertaining this upon 2 minutes of further testing confirmed that Windowblinds was causing the problem, without windowblinds installed at the point where you launch the game the animated cursor changes to an animated spinning CD then the game launches.

With windowblinds installed however the cursor doesnt change, the game executable shows under task manager as using 99% cpu and this goes on forever without the game ever launching - I dont know whether windowblinds overrides the game from changing the cursor effectively stopping the game from launching at the first hurdle or what it is doing to cause this but found it amusing that something as small as this could cause an entire series of games to not work.

Anyway just thought I would share my story, if anyone wants to test out my theory install windowblinds 4.5 and you'll see what I mean, im just about to uninstall that POS from all of my pcs until stardock get their act together.

On topic the game really didnt impress me I'll stick with my opinions about it just being an average PC FPS game due to the vast amount of competition that it has in that genre, the weapons seemed very lightwight to me and the touted 7-8 hours of singleplayer gameplay simply isnt enough. One thing that I would say is its fortunate that this game didnt come out using the Deus Ex license or it would be getting severely slated right now in the same manner that Deus Ex 2 did even though it isnt trying to be anything like either of the Deus Ex games.

I read alot of people posting about performance issues it ran fine though from what I played of it. Wink

Don't forget the game does NOT work with the newest NVidia forceware drivers (71.84).
In order to not get the nv_display CTD/system reboot, you must rollback to the 69.93 ones.
Hope that helps.

But there is an other Problem.
On a restart of Windows, the System hangs on the Windows Load
Screen...
Just a restore to a previous Backup solves the problem.
But after that he can't find any SCSI drive, so no Daemon Tools anymore...

Just to let all of you know. It has to be the original image for this to work. I tried making a image of the DVD on which I already burned the image and it did not work. It may work for some and depends on what type of burner you have. My burner won't bypass this protection or any other. Sad

Weird....

I burned the game with the newest 5.2 blindwrite and with low speed setting as the nfo said. But when I wanted to launch autorun.exe or setup.exe it gave me some kind of error (corrupted file etc). I then thought it was a coaster and installed it from Daemon tools instead. Went fine... I tried inserting the disc again and see if it would work just to launch the game. A popup from MS antispyware told about the protection and I allowed it just to test. And it worked, launched fine.

Is this how it is supposed to be, installing from image and then playing from disc? Or is my cd content corrupted except the protection? Could you install from the cd?

I could install from the disc fine. It just popped up a message saying something about authenication. If I ran the image straight from D-Tools, it installed and played fine. I could only install from the disc. Not play..

Then again I'm thinking about what you've just said. I have never tried to install from the image and play from the disc. I have tried installing & playing from the disc and it did not work as I said eariler.

I wonder what difference it makes installing from the image, then running the disc. I don't think it will work for me. My burner does not do a good job bypasing this protection. I have tried burning many differnt ways, none work.

For those that have it working on the disc. Straight off the disc.. No D-tools & no reg hack. Could you tell me what burner you used to make the disc? Just wondering what brand makes good backups.

If you are going to buy the best "backup" burner. Go for a new Plextor. You won't find a better brand.

onT I think I forgot to reboot after installing Blindwrite. Could be the problem. Going to burn the sucker again.

The game was extremely arcade btw. The graphics may be outdated but you must consider that it is a console port.

A Plextor huh? I'll check them out. Also heard some good comments about liteons. What do you think is the better way to go?

I agree with you on your comments about this game. I didn't have it on my HD any longer than 20mins and I deleted it. It was not enjoyable to me.

Yes Liteon and Plextor are the best ones on the market. But I'm only familiar with Liteon CDR burners not DVDR ones.

I had the same problem, but I did not get any antispyware warning. I even burned 2 discs, one on slow speed and one on medium speed but I got the same error. But still got it to play doing as you did, d-tools to install and the disc to play.

I reburned it and now the autorun and the setup launches like it should. It also launches the game without problems like the corrupted disc.

Flark Did you reboot after installing Blindwrite? I think It's a very important task to get Blindwrite's Path couffin access layer working (Burning engine). And what version did you use?

Should be, I'm sure I forgot to reboot. The game wasn't that bad btw. It had some pretty exciting moments. It's just more suited for consoles.

Well, I burned the clone properly but I have that freakin sysdata.xml error so I couldnt install it with the dvd.
I mounted the image, installed it with all emulation options on in Daemon. Installed fine.
Put the dvd in a it played fine.

So for those who have a dvd burner, ur gunna need to keep the image to install...unless u dont get that freakin error and system crash

Works perfectly on my R9800Xt and runs Great on my FX5700 Too.
41.07 drivers (i think its .07 , maybe it's another... well, the 41 is there for sure)
i had problems loading flat out with newer drivers on the FX5700.
Somehow, I didnt get any trouble from the R9800 , no matter which drivers i installed.

Burning as you actual burn games...really doubt it...burning as a data DVD and mounting the image with the reg hack..that will work.

On the nvidiots drivers issue... i think someone here found which drivers you need to use...think it was in the technical forum.

Using ForceWare 71.85 the game didn't work at first (it showed like one frame in 20 seconds) but after I disabled Ful screen effects in Setup, works like charm.
Shitty graphics but good gameplay, I like the game..
