Sorry but I dont know a lot on this field. I always paid people to update my 360. But now I just saw this topic talking about updating via USB - Im wondering if they mean updating the modded firmware or if its just a regular official update (topic is closed so I cant ask).
The reason I am curious is because I as a banned gamer would love to be able to get DLC for my games, but I heard I needed one of the newest mods in order for my 360 to read discs with burnt DLC on it. Im dying to get the extra chapters for RE5 and assassins creed 2 (and praying they will do new chapters for Mafia 2!!).
So can I simply update my modded firmware via USB stick or do I need to open my 360, hook it up to my computer and whatever you gotta do..?
Thanks!!

Sorry but no, there's no way of updating your drive via USB (well.... you can always have a Blaster360 fitted, but it's not the same as what you're asking) You have to open the machine and flash directly to the drive itself. As for your reason for updating? It's a load of horsecrap mate, whoever told you that you can burn DLC to disks is having a laugh with you.
The only way of playing DLC is to either buy it, install it on a JTAGed machine, or hope that whatever game you're playing has a "GOTY" edition -- ie; Fallout 3 or GTA4 -- which come with dedicated DVDs with DLC on them. Resident Evil *doesn't* have that, nor does AC2. The special edition of RE5 came with XBL codes to download the DLC, it wasn't on the disk.
