Remember when motion-controlled games were simply for old people and children? (We kid!) However, Nintendo's marketing has rarely reached this level of aggression. By clicking any of the buttons on the virtual PlayStation Move controller, you'll be able to read through a rant from fictional PlayStation VP Kevin Butler:

Kinda makes sense. Some people don't think you need buttons. WHAT?! Craziness. Could you imagine gaming without buttons? Where would the control come from?"
While there's some reason for concern, this kind of marketing can be interpreted not as playful, but a return to the "arrogant" attitude Sony has been notorious for. Considering Microsoft's Kudo Tsunoda confirmed future games could use the button-y Xbox 360 controller in conjunction with Kinect, this might be an argument Sony won't want to kick up. |

As ludicrous as that huge globe is... I'm.... oh god... I'm actually with Sony on this one. Fuck Kinect, I want tactile feedback in my games! At least until there's virtual reality ^_^

I'm with them too. If it wasn't for that ridiculous ball on the controller (no matter what the technical reasons for it are - Wii manages without), then I'd be all for it. I mean, Wii has pulled huge crowds which have historically had no interest in games, in large part due to the motion controller, which is something a lot more intuitive than a pad with buttons. But you still need buttons! You can't have coherent gameplay experience without. Especially not with a fucking webcam, masqueraded as some super-high-tech motion detector.
(BTW, one of the sentences in this post were taken almost intact from my presentation on my motion controller. Can you guess which? )

Reminds me of any number of Wii FPS titles, just with better graphics. I'd be much happier playing an FPS on Wiimote/Move than that bullshit Kinect thing. Such a shame that with Sony pushing Move so hard, we'll see even LESS developers supporting keyb/mouse like they did with UT3.

Seriously, I thought that the joypad was an abomination for FPS games but this has really reached a whole new level of stupid.

Try it before you knock it, bud. I've actually had a LOT of fun with Wii FPS titles .. the wiimote is a far better tool than an analogue stick.

The WiiMote works great for the Time Crisis type of games (ala the Dead Space Wii game). But for regular shooters where you need to rotate walk and all that, it ain't nothing special.

I tried that metroid game on the Wii and wasn't impressed, at all. It was actually worse than playing with a joypad which I never thought would be possible. Also, pointing one of those sticks at the TV for over an hour can and probably will hurt like hell.
In my view all this shit is really started going downhill when it started with Goldeneye on the N64. >.<

Where do you think they got the idea from to implement the joypad into other games?
Goldeneye was tons of fun though with friends but it was and still is awkward as fuck to play FPS games with a joypad.
