I installed the game. I have steam version and the readme says to launch Nehrim through the regular 'oblivion' icon and have only the Nehrim data files selected but they don't show at all. This makes sense because Nehrim installed in a separate folder.
So I copied the whole Nehrim 'data' folder into my Oblivion folder and that seemed to work for a while. Played the mines for an hour or so until the game completely locked up. No idea why.

I hacked your PC ... oh no, I keed, I keed.
Go to Data files or some such from the nehrim launcher, and there place the .esm file at the top of the list. oh no, I keed again, I actually hacked your PC, your gay porn collection is quite nice ...

I found the special STEAM install instructions in the readme. I still get very occasional lockups, but I'm enjoying the game a lot so far. Just got out of the mines. The world seems very skillfully crafted with lots of great design and scripted events. Music is fantastic and not over done. Looking forward to playing the whole game.

I started to play this. In 3 hours of gameplay, I can say it's good, good enough to continue playing and not abandon it as I do with almost everything.
I used to be a knee like you. Then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

More detailed and thus more demanding, unfortunately Oblivion is a bit rough itself such as not very multi-threaded and inefficient when it comes to utilizing newer hardware though with the raw speed of todays hardware it usually isn't much of a problem.
(Of course constantly upgrading can be problematic and is of course very costly.)

You can run Oblivion at a great frame rate, maxed details (except maybe shadows) with a processor well under 100 dollars, and a ~100$ video card. 4GB of RAM helps too (cheap these days).
I remember shelling out for a snazzy new 200$ish dual core AMD 3800+ and a 300 dollar 7900GT in anticipation for the release of Oblivion, and being disappointed with how crappy it ran...worst 300 dollars I ever spent, that 7900GT.

How is the story? Does it hold interest after a couple of hours? I really don't want to start a game again if it doesn't have lasting appeal.

Here's the relevant stuff from the readme:
Spoiler: | Quote: |
****************************************************
Installation (if you don’t have Oblivion by Steam)
****************************************************
· Nehrim is not a normal mod and is not installed as you normally install mods. Our
Installer does all the work for you, but we would like to explain what it actually does.
· Since Nehrim is a total conversion, it would not be advisable to install the mod directly into
the Oblivion installation folder – because in doing so there is simply too much data that will
be overwritten.
· Instead the installer automatically locates your Oblivion directory and copies out all the
needed information to play Nehrim into the Nehrim folder. This is a location on your hard
drive selectable by you.
WARNING: If you are using Windows Vista or 7, then please do not install Nehrim into one of
the Program Folders (Program, Program Files, Program(x86), Program Files (x86)). Because
of the Windows security checks this can cause problems.
· Now you have two Oblivions installed, but in separate folders. The advantage of this is that
at any time you can switch between your regular Oblivion game and Nehrim.
Installation (if you have Oblivion by Steam)
· Steam is a little rigid concerning its copy protection. Unfortunately, due to that feature you
can't have Nehrim and Oblivion installed separately, so you will have to overwrite Oblivion
with your Nehrim installation.
· First create a copy of your Oblivion folder as a backup. You can find this in the folder
Steam/SteamApps/common.
· Now you can execute the Nehrim installer, choosing any place on your harddrive for
installation.
WARNING: If you are using Windows Vista or 7, then please do not install Nehrim into one of
the Program Folders (Program, Program Files, Program(x86), Program Files (x86)). Because
of the Windows security checks this can cause problems.
· When the installation is complete, go to the folder where you have installed Nehrim. Copy
and paste ALL of it into your Oblivion folder (Steam/SteamApps\common).
Starting Nehrim (if you don’t have Oblivion by Steam)
· After the installation is complete you will find a “Nehrim – At Fate's Edge” icon on your
desktop. This is a system launcher developed by SureAI that works like the already known
Oblivion Launcher but with a few additional features. Still DO NOT click “Play” yet!
Because just as you do with other mods, you must first activate the Nehrim files.
· Therefore click on “Data Files” and uncheck ALL game files that you have activated. To
play Nehrim now enable “Nehrim.esm” and “NehrimData.esp”. NOTHING ELSE! All
files that have anything to do with Oblivion must be disabled or the game will crash.
· Now you can click the “Play” button. You can check to see if there is an update for Nehrim
by using the Nehrim Launcher (you need only to communicate with the update server by
clicking on the arrow next to the “Update” button and then activate the check box). Then
using the link provided, you can download the update or let the launcher download it
automatically.
****************************************************
Starting Nehrim (if you have Oblivion by Steam)
****************************************************
· Unfortunately, you cannot use the Launcher provided by SureAI with Steam to start Nehrim.
Therefore, click as usual on the Oblivion start icon. Nevertheless, DO NOT click “Play”
yet! Just as you do with other mods you must first activate the Nehrim files.

So, if I want to play Oblivion after installing Nehrim, I will have to change the name or move the Oblivion folder (the one with Nehrim installed) and restore the old one. A little space consuming, but possible.

My review....(keep in mind i was REALLY intoxicated, but played for about 3 hours)
This game is the child of Oblivion and Gothic....until G4 comes out, I'll be playing this. AMAZING mod.

You can use a cracked Oblivion.exe to separate it from Steam, unsure which one is "best".
(Thus you can have \Steam\..\Oblivion and \Steam\..\Nehrim\ or some such as the installer copies what it needs to function, essentially a stand-alone expansion but to make it more clean and compatible made separate from Oblivion base install folder, also prevents accidents by loading Oblivion.esm with Nehrim.esm and mods though replacers work just fine for textures, bodies and similar more basic stuff.)

It's the same mod but the English version uses a addition ESP for translating any quest and story related info (Several other things left untranslated at the moment.) so it should work fine.
(Assuming it's 1.0.7.5)

And you got to hit it with your sword, and and try to move it by walking into it.
It's fucking ANNOYING.

You can pick them up with Z(or Y depending on ur keyboard), same as in oblivion. You can pick up pretty much anything this way.

Wow, this game is so much better then oblivion. graphics are a bit old for todays standards and the combat isnt that good (aim at the bad guy, click mouse, repeat). But the rest is great, one of the best rpg's i've played.

The combat will get better once you get more skilled at it (XP wise). I really liked the shield and sword fighting in Oblivion. Be sure to use spells too, great fun.

Check the Data section in Nehrim launcher. If you've got Oblvion.esm/esp selected it will crash a lot. Had the same issue.
