Well heres a good one,
this became known only because a forum member noticed the digital download txt on an ad for the pc version and it hadnt been mentioned by codies before this.

"UK – If you’ve pre-ordered a box copy of F1 2010, you’ll receive a boxed, copy of the game on disc. Amazon.co.uk is still taking PC box pre-orders and will continue to do so until the day before launch. At launch, the PC edition of F1 2010 will be exclusively available via digital download.
US - The PC edition of F1 2010 is exclusively available via digital download; pre-orders are now available via Steam and other digital outlets.
All other territories - Boxed copies available for pre-orders and at launch (while stocks last), digital downloads also available.

You would imagine that they would allow you to get a physical copy for a week or 2 after release but then i guess players reviews will be out.

Stores will still have their stock, maybe they are doing a 'limited' run for financial reasons, or something to do with the license.

I agree, what that needs is a touch of HDR lighting as you enter/exit the tunnel, a moments blindness as your eyes adjust. You REALLY have to know the track and racing line or you're stuffing it into the wall, race over.

Would be cool if you could apply the .ini tweak as in Grid to remove bloom/blur. That massively helped the colours and sharpness of the graphics in-game.

theres a mod for grid to remove the colour filter, i also once saw a mod for NFS:shift on youtube that gave it natural colours and it looked so much more real but the guy never released the mod Sad

only for the TV camera drivers have said its not as dark as it looks and when your coming out of the tunnel it doesnt blind you

check out the colours in this need for speed shift mod

makes me wonder why the fuck games developers keep using the next gen colour pallete!they give everything a grey/green/brown tint and it looks fucking shit lets get back to vivid colours please remove the shitty filters

Day to night lighting has been removed from the evening races .Permanently dusk .
Dynamic light(sun moving over the course of a 2 hour race)seesm to have also got the axe,
consoles are taking a big fps hit with it in place seems to be the reason the devs are giving.

Remember if the sun doesn't move the shadows stay in the same place all the time, also if the sun moves it means over the course of a 2 hour race a corner you may have been blinded by the sun will not be the same 30 mins later.

Weather has also taken a hit,
It cannot rain in just a part of the track like what normally happens in spa, when it rains it rains everywhere on the track at the same time,so now you basically have 3 presents ,no rain, light rain and heavy rain.
Even gtr2 had this.

moosenoodles, Options , from codemasters Smile can i have what your smoking Smile

From technical standpoint, the performance of rendering shadow maps is not dependent on the angle of the light source. So as long as it's only one light source (and as far as I know, throughout the day there is only one sun Laughing), it does not matter where the sun is, and the shadows are rendered in real time.

Considering how even Grid had this (sun moving), it's really stupid that it's not here. My bet is on laziness rather than performance.

Ha you know what, that's EXACTLY what they are going to do. Livery, driver and car updates, once a year. How much, you reckon? I'll bet £15 a pop. Piss easy for them to do, and cheaper than making a new game.

Oh I know they do it, I've just never been into football games so I usually just sit back with a smug grin and say "mugs..."

Now it's a game I want and it isn't so bloody funny anymore Wink

@madnessnaab:

Not at all, I fully intend to buy this. I bought Grid and Dirt 2 and they have given me plenty of value for money (a thing that is sadly lacking in Britain these days) so I figured I'd show my support. Of course if a release arrives before ship date, then I make no promises...

Lol yeah you're right, I suppose it's like an Italian hating pasta Very Happy
It's not that I don't like the footy, it's just that I'm shit at the games. More of a motor sports/MMA guy.

Probably agree with you on that ,isnt codemasters fully owned by investment bankers these days.
bit id put it different
Its the greed of business over the love of gaming.
If you look at most entertainment industry, the people who get involved do so out of a love of the art of what they do
when they sell out they become like codemasters
when they regain control i suppose valve would be an example

Id rather have valve type devs than codemaster type devs.

Quite a bit of steering lag. Put me off buying the game, going to wait to see whether this is a one off. Otherwise it's a PS3 rental.
