I don't know how this will work, on other hand I do like that they have no slider for money/research. Money really wasn't a factor in civs, everything just went into research and if you had some surplus, there was nothing to spend it on.

Other than that the only concern left that I have is the size of the maps.

Yeah they only seem to be showing the smaller continent map, so it's hard to gauge the size of the bigger ones.

Looking forward to getting my paws on it.

About the map size issue. I believe there are a few reviews out there that state what size they are playing. Like small / Medium etc, then u can see the world map too in the minimap Smile

Those samurai were pretty hardcore. The guy playing was holding up pretty well against a much stronger civ until he started rushing for the broadcast Smile

No. Since the game uses Steamworks protection Steam if required to play even a retail copy. So when it unlocks on steam is when it first becomes available for anyone.

Did anyone actually read the PC Gamer 93% review, it is filled with little gems like:

On Combat:
Quote:
This is a huge step forward for Civ warfare, but it isn't perfect. Having to move each unit individually rather than in stacked groups makes moving a large force around pretty tedious. A bigger problem is the AI, which can't grasp the subtleties -- it has a bad habit of wheeling its long-range artillery directly up to my melee units to say "howdy". On higher difficulty levels the AI simply gets a resource boost to overwhelm you with numbers, not more tactical smart.

On Multiplayer:
Quote:
Playing against humans solves that problem, and Civ V's slew of flexible options let you scale a standard game's marathon length down to a more manageable couple of hours. Sadly, the battles don't work quite as well in the confusing, simultaneous turn-based multiplayer, where all players are moving all their pieces in no particular sequence at the same time. It's messy and unpredictable, especially coming from the orderly turn-taking of single player.

On Diplomacy:
Quote:
That said, diplomacy could stand to be a little more transparent -- sudden declarations of war caught me totally off guard, like when, after a long period of peace and mutually beneficial trade relations with Gandhi's India, the little bald jerk allied with Japan to invade my Roman Empire without provacation.

On City Management:
Quote:
You couldn't ask for better city automation tools -- if you want, you never have to do anything besides pick what you want your cities to build. It is a big divergence from past Civs, the population doesn't have individual moods, but all contribute to a national happiness level that can boost you into a super-productive golden age or drag you down into stagnation.

I really didn't cut out much from the whole review except the other section on "Idiot-proof politics" (their heading not my comment), so I think there is a lot of hype and anticipation going into this 93% review. Much like Epsilon mentioned... I am also worried about the derpification of a classic, but I bet you see a metacritic consensus of the review sites in the high 90's regardless.
