In the main menu, My FIFA 11 > Settings > Controller Settings and you can adjust the assistance changing it from assisted (default for ) to semi-manual or manual

It's by default on RT, I've switched it with the Shot Modifier to get it back to RB where it's on PES.
I'm really loving FIFA this year, after many years of uninstalling the demo after the first minute and going back to playing the latest installment of PES.
It really seems to have improved, and I can't wait to play on a higher difficulty, AI seems too easy to beat on the demo's difficulty.
My only gripe with it is the time it takes the game to show the pause menu (freezes for a few seconds before showing it) and to end the game (game freezes on the referee's final whistle for a few seconds again).
On all other aspects, it's great. Gameplay on slow is quite realistic, the animations are ages ahead of PES' ones and seem really fluid, and the passing and shooting systems on Semi or Manual are hard to master but really satisfying once you do.
A new age for FIFA installments on PC is beginning, and if this is anything to go by, it really looks great from here on.
Sorry Konami, you lose this year. Maybe this will finally give them some incentive again.

I grew up with sensible soccer, kick off, soccer, nintendo world cup and soon fifa international soccer (94), some international superstar soccer (iss, the predecessor to PES) and as a PC Gamer I followed fifa up until 2002 WC (96, 97, 98 were great, 99 a good update, 2000 and 2001 not SO good, 2002 was quite good though), which was incredible! Somehow fifa sucked after 2002wc hard...
Then came PES3 to the PC and since then PES was ALWAYS superior to EA!
And now this demo. The animations are fantastic, the action on the field looks so intense and nice. Though some of the game feels derpified it is incredible nice to play!
Seems as if FIFA 11 PC won this year over PES 2011 PC :O
(It's a pity that both of the games actually "force" me to use a gamepad... up until now I could always use the keyboard quite well, but some functions are missing now )

If it does seem too easy for you, try to switch to semi-manual/manual controls (the AI will still remain derpy because the difficulty is set on amateur, yet the game will be much more demanding ).

Well, I'm a PC Gamer at heart but for the occasional racing game I use my Logitech Chillstream. I've also always played FIFA with a keyboard (the last Fifa I played was 07 or so) but this time I tried the gamepad along with the Pro Camera. Awesome combo! Although I don't like soccer, this game is actually quite fun (as long as matches don't take too long, but also not as short as 3 minutes per round). But, I suck at this game I've played about 6 matches so far, every setting at default, but still won only 1 match. Also, I really hate combos, and Fifa seems to have a few I can't master. Curve shots work (I think) and I can dribble past the defence sometimes, but most of the time it's fail after fail

Meh I didn't know that , I've always played with the 360 controller plugged in so that message sounds new to me. It's a shame, because on manual the game is incredibly better

Just proof how pathetic EA Sports are:
http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/5719649-post10.html
Quote: | The PC version of FIFA 09 is different to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions because of the CPU processing power required for the architecture of the game.
The majority of gamer's PC's do not have enough CPU processing power for this architecture, so FIFA09 on PC has been built to have the best possible graphics and gameplay engine while still being accessible to as many fans of the game as possible. If the architecture was identical to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, FIFA09 on PC would only be accessible to 1-3% of the PC systems on the market.
Having said that, FIFA09 on PC delivers a very deep gameplay engine, along with leading-edge visuals.
Phenom |
This is the CPU usage of FIFA 11 demo:
It uses 1 fucking core!
