Hell... the whole film was bullshit and not even CLOSE to being a patch on either the first film or the source material itself. So much nonsense in that film that it honestly made it hard to watch at times. What the hell was up with that court debacle crap?
"We're here to see you turn the Iron Man weapon over to the public"
WHAT THE FUCK? Since when was Capitalist America actually Communist Russia? Then you have Rhodes STEALING the suit? Yeah, whatever, that just wouldn't happen*
*Yes, I'm fully aware he couldn't have "physically" stolen it unless Tony Stark had already programmed Rhodes' authority into the War Machine suit, I'm referring to the POINT. Rhodes was Stark's FRIEND and replacement after Tony relapsed into alcoholism. He never stole the fucking suit, nor was it intended, the War Machine design was always for Rhodes. Always.. and Rhodes knew that. He wouldn't have had to steal it.
Urgh. The film, like most other Marvel films these days, just completely butchered the source material and turned it into nonsense. Oh and let's not even go there about the ridiculously laughable end fight. The battles against the DRONES lasted longer than against Whiplash, who went down in less than a minute. Awesome.
I can't believe Stan Lee would put his name to this drivel, just like Thor and Captain America. I would rate Iron Man as an easy 8/10 (thoroughly enjoyable, plodded along a bit too much, could have been better) and Iron Man 2 at 5/10 *at most* |
Heh, we who went to see it at the cinema when it came out agreed that the end scene was somehow a bit more original than the usual "Hero gets badly beat down and THIS close to losing but comes out the victor in the last minute"-type of end fight.
It was short, yes, but to me (us) it felt slightly more real than other fights. The fact that the whole "drones gone wild"-part before it got most of the nice action in the movie. So the movie/end half didn't lack action at all
I really think the movie is a bit too short. Too much stuff happens within the movies runtime, so it ends up being too fragmented and broken up. That's why it's not as good as the first one IMO.

I thought the US government demanding the suit for "the public" was just their way of saying "give us the goddam suit for mass production and mass ass kicking".
@psycho: we don't know what happens at he end of Inception, that's the point.

It's not the point. It's his intellectual property, his money, his product... it isn't Communist Russia or even a Socialist country (Socialism <3) - it's a CAPITALIST country and the government has no right to demand you turn over your product :\

actually america is going the way of a socialist country... no country is purely capitalist... no country could ever sustain that model in a pure form, because the majority of a countires citizens are lazy whiny fucks who want without effort or contribution.. the film was just being honest about america.

Isn't it realistic though? The US would invoke all kinds of national security bullshit laws and demand such a weapon. They know Stark won't sell, so they tell him to give it. As for Rhodes, he was always depicted as extremely patriotic in the movies. I have no idea how he's in the comics though.

Spoiler: | They argue that if a privately owned technology could, if given to the army, allow the state to defend itself and the lives of it's soldiers better (or at all, given it's a fantasy world) it should be shared. You assume Iron Man being a superhero in a movie could handle any or all possible threats, but if we just think it through a more conventional real life government perspective, it's just one man with his suits. As seen in the beginning of the movie, other hostile countries are actually pushing through to mass produce similar "weapons". It makes more sense to do so too and not rely on a narcissistic playboy. In any case, you should remember that in real life all weapon manufacturers are bound by government contracts and producing weapons for your own sake or just for fun is prohibited, at least as far as I know. |

Passion of the Christ - Jesus dies at the end |
You clearly haven't watched the Extended Edition: it does provide a different and more intriguing ending where the protagonist (which turns to be a professional illusionist) manages to perform a great escape worthy of
Houdini.

But Houdini also died at the end of a illusion! |
