I managed to get it working but I can't complete the first quest - whenever I try to launch a boat to the merc training grounds I get a disconnect message.

Hey could somebody give me a step by step guide on proxies? I'm having a real hard time geting this working.
Managed to get in game once, but i couldn't see any of the other people in town, and i eventually got disconnected.

Fire up Proxifier and go to a site that lists free proxies. In Proxifier, click the top-left button and then on Add. Put in the right IP and port, and make sure SOCKS 5 is selected. Click OK and then make sure the proxy is checked. Then you'll be able to start the game and log in. After logging in you can go back to Proxifier and uncheck the proxy.
You could also go into your proxification rules and make it so vindictus.exe is the only application that uses the proxy, so it doesn't hinder your downloads and web browsing.
Don't think I forgot anything. Keep in mind it's probably not going to work for the first few tries until you find a good proxy.

The AOL trick worked fine here (although i had to dw a more recent version 9.5).
I'm divided about this game. Some things are very well done, and the game is pretty fun for a while, but the cheesy oriental conversations, the lack of polish, the corridor boring hack & slash, the constant instancing, etc, just turns me off. So much potential wasted.

I always disable it as soon as I'm logged in on my char. In fact I can't even start a boat if I don't do it.

As soon as I'm loaded and into the game with my character, I disable the proxy. Works like a charm mate =)

connection still going by proxy... you cant disable the proxy lol... if the proxy goes down connection will fail... you wont connect to their servers from ur ip. stop spreading lies, even if u disable proxifier or whatever program, connection is still using it

Who's lying? I DISABLE the proxy, it can't "go through" something that isn't there. Shoo, go away.

Yeah that's why I get stuck and get server delayed message and then mysteriously if I turn it off it works without any problems.
It pretty much starts a new connection with everything you do. Not even the inventory is shared with the main game.

Yup. You even get a message saying that your IP has changed once the proxy has been disabled and that you can't access mailbox for 80 seconds. After those 80 seconds are up? Everything works good as gold on MY standard IP.

Im not having any problems using the AOL trick, no lags what so ever...

suprised u were not dropped sabin  normaly u change ip's on the fly like that doing anything u dc then reconnect..
certainly some interesting shit going on with that game and its connection then
