Well I might after reading that the most stupid scum on the earth, who couldnt get past the Civ 3 or 4 tutorial said it was now "streamlined and understandable". The very thing that pulled people in with Civ was its size and complexity. Why dont these fucking retards go enjoy their fucking Halo and let people with proper intellect and insight play a proper game.

Well - I do like the old civ's size and complexity...but that doesnt mean the new one wont be good. Wait and see rather than whine imo Smile

Some of the streamlining are welcome changes though. In the latest videos they show some of this. Like hiding secondary functions of units in the GUI, like 'delete unit', in a sub menu instead of the main interface. Or allowing for high level optimization of city production depending on a specific goal (more gold/research/production etc). The ability to show or hide specific tabs and options allows for varying levels of information being displayed to the user. Having more crap on the screen doesn't make a game 'smarter'. The underlying mechanics are still very complex in Civ5 but the interaction of those mechanics can be simple, or as complicated as you want depending on your play style.

I can't wait for the release. Well I have to wait I suppose, so I guess I can. Been playin Civ IV for a month straight now (gave it a rest for several months), I really like the rise of mankind mod with the A New Dawn Addon; have like 3 games going at once. I play the slow game mode with huge map, and all civs in it on 2nd to hardest difficulty. It really is a very polished game. Wonder how long til 5 is so polished. Hopefully they release a really good product. Total war series for instance seems to get better and better, looking forward to shogun 2 also. I"ve played all the civs, I remember the 1st one on DOS, was like 3 megs big, lol. What was that like 1991 or something? Great fucking strategy game series.

there's suppose to be an americas map and a Mesopotamia map and another map that mimics real locations, civ IV had a map generator the map real world maps also, so I assume it could be ported over rather easily? We'll see.

Side note, oof don't expand the stream, lol

Gamespot broadcast is really awful, it's not a live gameplay, it's a staged live advertisement the kind you get in various teleshops Sad

Also evidenced by the fact that they had a marketing guy playing. Sad!

Just reading over that review and came across this:
"Later on, astronomy allows all units to move over ocean tiles."

I've been out of the loop, apparently. Somebody wanna fill me in? ANY unit can swim across the ocean if they so desire?

Well, thats...interesting to say the least.

I have my reservations about this game but I'm still purchasing it day 1 and I'm pretty sure its going to turn into the "eh, just one mor---- damn the sun is up ALREADY?" that we all got from previous iterations. Can't wait!

From the live broadcast it showed you can research transports but it works like you walk up to a coast area with any unit and if you click on the body of water a boat would appear and you can take them across. At least that's what it looked like. So, yeah, a tad derped with the automatic boats just showing up.

From every video i've seen, they've taken the good things about Derping on consoles, and turned that into a viable Less than Derp PC solution.. I'm really looking forward to it.

They also said that they act like civilian ships, so if anyone attacks them, they are helpless and pretty much toast. The enemy only need a few patrol boats or a couple of artilery along the coast and D-Day is out of the question.

The Frys Electronics stores in various major US cities has it for 39.99 this Tuesday. Just saw the scanned ad.

The Steamworks thing makes buying more tempting than usual. Smile
