A deadly plague that hunts PC games. Symptoms include:
• clumsy and frustrating user interfaces
• super-large fonts (used to be seen on televisions from afar)
• extremely poor visual quality, characterized by low texture resolutions, low polygon counts by current generation standards, etc.
• poor control not optimized for the keyboard/mouse control scheme
• horrible handling of saving games, or limited save model
• lack of options (resolutions, audio settings, graphic quality, etc.)
• the inability to remap keys to certain actions
• platform-style gameplay suited for gamepads
• simplified game mechanics
• unoptimized performance not taking advantage of the latest PC technologies
• no support for mods, and no editors for customization

@Nailbiter PC has the most hardcore players, that is perhaps more correct. You can see this clearly at the amount of sales dumb games get on consoles versus PC. Then they blame it on piracy.

Well this thread pretty much degenerated, just in to say that I played the first halo on pc and the latest one on the 360 and imho the first one sucked back then on the pc and the last one sucks right now on the 360. And I can't fathom the middle ones being much different. Seriously, most overrated series EVAR.

I think you're in the wrong section because you're sitting there defending Halo, an oversimplified by-the-numbers FPS, against people who have been playing FPS titles on the platform they were designed for. Kind of a strange position to take.
I'm neither a PC nerd or a consolefag .. I own, and have always owned, every major platform on the market. I'm a true gamer and always will be, and I *still* stand by my opinion on Halo. Back when that came out, I was playing far superior games like Soldier of Fortune, Quake and Unreal Tournament.

Q3 and UT still get some love now and then. Excellent games.

Are you on crack? You are actually claiming to be a gamer by telling me what platforms you´ve had and what not, which was the point I was going for in the first place. TO A TRUE GAMER IT SHOULD NOT MATTER ON WHAT PLATFORM, RATHER WHAT GAME!

And no, IMO halo was not crap and I´ve been here since fucking DOOM.

I claim Halo is rubbish because it's oversimplified and completely run-of-the-mill, you get all uppity about it and start on some nonsense about how I'm not a gamer. I said Halo was rubbish. It doesn't matter what fucking platform it's on, it's still rubbish! Even prior CONSOLE shooters pissed all over Halo, especially games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

I was 3 at the time Wolf3D (The mother of the FPS) and guess what? I played it back then! Beat that! =D (And forget the fact that my dad got it uninstalled for me because it was too scary ^^)
Wait, what was the thread about? Halo vs the rest of the FPS universe? Or Kinect vs FPS on PC?

For ME it was the first FPS. I didn´t play wolfenstein. Or maze, or whatever is considered the first fps.
Yes, let´s bactrack. You said halo is crap. I said it´s not, its a quality game, just not for everyone. Not crap though.
You say I´m in wrong section.
But since I know you play more then on one platform I was a bit confused and said I thought you were a gamer not a pc nerd.
You then misunderstood, thinking I was talking about halo.
I said that I wasn´t.
And then we are on this page and the confusion seems to escalate.
IMO SoF wasn´t the best game. It had blood and neonazis I´ll give it that. How you consider this to be a remark on all pc games in beyond me. So what´s the irony you are talking about?
edit: noticed you edited your post. Yeah, obviously thread is about bullshit kinect, but on that same page someone said hc gaming is pc gaming exclusive, or the like, while I said it wasn´t. Do you agree with him/her?

The irony is that you get all uppity about someone daring to insult your beloved Halo, yet you feel quite entitled to sit there and claim one of my PC examples is crap and the only thing going for it is the blood and "neo nazis"
I never claimed SoF was "the best game" but it sure as hell is a lot better than Halo. Again, in my opinion.

As much as derp-bots like this dude want to believe PC gaming is somehow in trouble, it somehow keeps going. Despite years of "TEH SKY IT IZ FALLING" claims by self aggrandized "experts," people still make lots of games for the PC.
Does "Derpie the Herpasaur Part 19" sell better on the Wii than on the PC? Sure does. How is that an indicator the PC gaming is dying? Derp games never sell that well on the PC.*
Besides, like it or not, there are thousands more games for the PC than all other platforms put together. Anyone with some talent and some skill can make a PC game, and maybe even make tons of cash (see: Minecraft et. al.).
PC gaming won't die unless people all decide to hate fun one day.
*Okay, derp-games like most MMOs and Farmville or whatever also make lots of cash on the PC. Derps abound. Herpa-derp derp. Point stands.

I think of hardcore gaming as more of an attitude. You play the same game over and over 8+ hours a day because you like it and you want to get good at it. Has little to do with platform or choice of game.
Back on topic though I find this guys comments about how "no one is playing fps on PC's anymore, it's all about the consoles" irksome if only for the fact it does ring slightly true.
However, to condemn the PC as a viable gaming platform to the general gaming public just in order to promote Kinect is a low blow. The PC market only suffers because of it's lack of big name exclusives and support from publishers. Not the fault of the gamers.
The PC enables me to be a lazy bum and sit at my desk moving only my wrist and fingers for hours at a time. Kinect however will force me to expend for more energy in the same span of time (possibly forcing me to even standup, oh no.)
I will let the games speak for themselves anyhow but surely by the same token, playing an fps game with SONY Move and it's 3D tech would be an even better experience then Kinect.

My wife's grandma can't figure out how to watch DVDs, is afraid to hurt the TV by using the remote control, and is terrified of "strange buttons" on her cell phone. She seriously thinks accidentally pressing one will make her house burn down or something.
But she can play games. And she does. Farmville and something else on Facebook -- I'm amazed by this. Everyone is a gamer anymore.
