Yes there is. With Cheat Engine you can, at least until you finished your last tech research available in the demo, after that you cant end your turn anymore. Should be around 200-300 turns or smth, but im too lazy to explain it AGAIN, just check the previous pages , somewhere beginning from 20 or so..... |
I already found a trainer, that freezes the turn count. And it seems to work well.
I played for a while, until a second ago, when I tried to pause the game, and it exited to the desktop, losing my 7 cities empire along the way.
Although, it seems game related, and not trainer related. It was after a great person was created at my capital. The game froze for two seconds, but was working. Then I tough: let me save the game, in case this shit crashes. When I paused to save -> CTD.

If I recommend it? Sure. It seems to work after all.
If you want a link, say it and I'll PM it to you.

I really don't want to pay an extra ten bucks to simply unlock the Babylonians. Can someone with a legit version check this out?
1. Go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization vAssets\Gameplay\XML\Civilizations
2. Open (in notepad): CIV5Civilizations.xml
3.Look for a line that says <Type>CIVILIZATION_BABYLON</Type>
and add the following line underneath:
<Playable>false</Playable>
Apparently using that method you can unlock 3 more civilizations to play as in the demo (just be sure not to mess with the Barbarians entry as it will crash the game.) If anyone (preferably WITHOUT the Steam Deluxe edition) could see if that makes Babylonians playable, that'd be great
Hope this is allowed - as it's really only an xml tweak, if not, mods please remove and sorry

Wut. Could it really be THAT easy? That'd makes the whole DLC scam even more shameful, given there's not even a goddamn download involved. Just flipping a single on/off switch, essentially.

Couldn't you just edit the turns left for the last tech to 9999 or something?

Were you able to research future tech at any point?
If not, maybe making it accessible would prevent freezing/crashing, or whatever you got.

Works in the demo. Deleting the line <Playable>xxx<Playable> under civ name unlocks it to play in the demo. If it works for full version, we're golden! |
Wait, so you have to delete the line in order to make it playable? That's kind of ass backwards, but I uninstalled the demo earlier today so I couldn't test it myself.
Thanks for the info.
Now somebody with the $50 steam version try it and help me save $10, perty please!

I presume the proper way to do it is by changing the line to <Playable>true</Playable>, since I'm guessing the game code assumes the civ's playable if the string's deleted because it's not being explicitly told it's not.
But who knows.

Just have to chime in and say, after clocking almost 15 hours so far since yesterday (yes, you read that right), I'm enjoying Civ5 very much. This is also coming from someone who's been playing Civ since the very first one was released.
I was worried about the new combat and 1-unit hex system, but now I love it. I'm actually enjoying combat now. I also like that a weaker or more obsolete unit with proper terrain positioning, with some veterancy and bonuses can sometimes withstand an assault of several more advanced units. Gone are the days of tedious production trying to crank out 200 tanks and rolling a single huge stack across that one enemy who now owns 75% of the world. This is much more engaging, and in my opinion is a welcome change.
I actually kind of miss religion being a factor since it's completely absent here except for the "Piety" social policy, which pretty much means nothing but some extra bonuses. Since religion is such a central factor in many of the worst conflicts in history, it just seems odd that it's gone entirely here. A more tightly focused, revamped system would have been good.
My only real gripe is that the soundtrack is very underwhelming for a Civ game. Some tracks are nice, but most are fairly forgettable. Oh, and not having Leonard Nimoy doing the research voiceovers! However the fact that this version has completely tossed out the goofy "The Sims meets Civilization" quirkiness and gone for a more serious tone with the game makes up for that if you ask me.
Now I'm wondering if I can somehow mod in the music from the older games

It seems you can enable the Future Technology by changing the TECH_FUTURE_TECH disable value to false in assets/gameplay/xml/technologies/CIV5Technologies.xml .
I haven't got that far through the tech tree in the demo though so I don't know what will happen when you finish the tree and try to research it. It's selectable in game so it might give you some more time to play at least if you've halted the turn timer with cheat engine and cant research anymore.

Well, I just succeeded fixing this by modding CIV5Technologies.xml
By changing Disable tag for TECH_FUTURE_TECH from true to false, game won't hang up when all techs are researched. You'll be able to select future tech and keep playing.
P.S.
I quickly tested it by reducing cost of all other techs to 1. Worked fine, as far as I've seen.

It also appears you can "remove" the turn limit by going into:
..\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v - demo\Assets\UI\InGame\Popups\EndGameMenu.Lua
find function OnBack()
replace it with
Quote: |
function OnBack()
UIManager:DequeuePopup( ContextPtr );
--local languageType = Locale.GetCurrentLanguage().Type;
--if languageType == "de_DE" then
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930?l=german");
-- elseif languageType == "it_IT" then
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930?l=italian");
-- elseif languageType == "fr_FR" then
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930?l=french");
-- elseif languageType == "es_ES" then
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930?l=spanish");
-- else
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930");
-- end
end
|
(Clicking the buy the game button will let you continue, in theory, haven't tested it in practice since i got no 100 turn saves)
You can also enable the other civs in the aforementioned civ.xml (Barbarian/mini-civs crashes the game)

You can build them almost anywhere, I haven't seen suggestions for locations until after I built my first city.
Demo Turn Trainer:
http://hotfile.com/dl/71101557/f95a277/Civ5.Demo.Hack-SpecTRe.rar.html
Run the trainer
Run the game manually (don't use the launch button)
During the game press the numeric 0 button

Nope, it doesn't work. Already tried something similar. It will just bring back game screen, but you'll be unable to continue to next turn.
