I am considering purchasing this also (I never realised it was out?), but has anyone got any in-depth info on the actual game and not the protection? Anyone played it? Got links to reviews?

Be appreciated thanks Smile

On SF3...i just wanna ditto what i posted in another thread.........

I dont think its so much a matter of toca, or this game not being released its the fact that its protected by SF3, and no group can even touch it! It will never be released!

Now can you picture this, EVERY game from this point on is protected with SF3? Just think about it for a minute, this fucking thing CANNOT be cracked. If the companys encrypt it just right, they would never have to fear piracy again. Now that would indeed be the end of the scene as far as gaming goes.

And on another note, why not encrypt EVERYTHING with SF3 not just games but software in general, i mean hey somebody is really on to something here with this protection. Could very well be the end of piracy FOREVER.

Now i know some of you will be saying "blah blah everything can be cracked, blah blah just give the groups time to develop an anti-SF3 program... blah blah" hey boys and girls just to clue you all in........ITS BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS NOW AND TOCA, AND KILLSWITCH HASENT, NOR WILL BE CRACKED!. All i can say is just look at this game and Toca and Killswitch, if SF3 encrypts several files, and not just a few, then the software industry has very much Pwned the scene.

Who knows for sure. Maybe 1 day SF3 will be solved (trust me im still holding out hope), but how long will that take? The software industry might as well implement it now and enjoy there software not being pirated for a while.

Flame if you want , just my 2 cents!

Sure dood...
I think the new rlz groups are just crap, and razor1911 has become gay.
Until a new generation, or a few self-challenging people gather to solve the SF3 problem, their will be nothing more than games like Yugioh or porn hentai...

Damn it sucks ! I'm not in age to work, so I can spend all my money buying games...
If gamez arent released no more, it means for me : No more games ! (or just REAL must have like RTW or HL2...)

So I wish two things : -that SF3 will be cracked by new talents
-that the SF3 creators die instantaneously of a painful desease

Here's a couple of reviews:

http://www.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r21969.htm
http://pc.ign.com/articles/526/526926p1.html

Those reviews are actually pretty poor in that they don't tell you much about the game. Gamezone give it a 6 for concept because they don't like WW2 games! Not exactly brilliant journalism. If you really want to see what it's like you should try the demo and the mods that are available for it.

Also, the codemasters forum is quite useful - I found a decent amount of information there.

The forums can be found here: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=229

BTW, Can we please stop discussing starforce3 and start discussing the actual game?!

A demo was released about a month ago. Playing it for only a few minutes sold me. As for reviews I would just go to the local magazine stand. I know of two reviews for it so far, 90% (PC Zone Mag (Brit) & 84% GameStar (Ger).

IGN 8.5 http://pc.ign.com/articles/526/526926p1.html
Gamespot 7.9 http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/outfront/review.html

I would suggest playing the demo though. Since what you think is more important then what others think.

Thanks for the reviews guys, I played the demo and the mods for it a while back when it was released - I was fairly impressed I have to say.

Although I find the infantry battles are still too accurate and effective than in real life at that time they wouldn't, which is a shame. It has an arcade playablity edge too which puts me off (I long for the days of Close Combat!).

The fact it is SF3 protected and I got a quite a fair share of slowdown in the similarly protected demo suggests to me a problem, as it is one of the criticisims in the reviews.

I'm not sure about this yet, so I will hold my horses as I dived in for another Codemasters product and was greeted with problems.

There was not a lot of enthusiasm directed towards the game either, more focus on the faults... nor not much mention of multiplayer.

I'm hesitant Sad

Regarding the multiplayer, they probably didn't mention it too much because it only comes with a co-op mode. The combat multiplayer is being released as a patch pretty soon.

I think this is the reson why it isn't released yet:

http://www.codemasters.co.uk/news/displayarticles.php?showarticle=5853&territory=EnglishUK

Quote:
The Multiplayer Upgrade will also form part of Codemasters’ ongoing anti-piracy and gaming security programme. The Upgrade will only function with an original copy of the Soldiers disc and aims to safeguard players’ gaming environment against other players using cheats or hacks unfairly in the Versus multiplayer games. Developed by Ukrainian company Best Way, Soldiers: Heroes of World War II will arrive guns blazing when it’s published by Codemasters on June 29th, exclusively for PC

So guess the crackers wait for that patch and then crack it lesser work Razz

I played some co-op yesterday with my pal. It was a fucking blast. It also played much smoother then I thought co-op would. Ran into a few bugs, but nothing that ruined our fun.
