What the hell, i had removed the game end screen, i had fixed the research bug, and i had added all demo civs, and now all of a sudden the game won't recognize any of the changes.

Looks like the game found out O_o

3.5GB? It's very fishy. It is either the demo or rar-packed midget gay porn ...

I had something similar happen when I tried adding Romans as playable.
Game would crash after fist advisor pop-up, and on next start they would not be playable anymore.

Yeah looks like those civs do not properly support being playable in the demo, happened with the english civ after 2 turns, the german civ probably behaves similarly.

Run the trainer
Run the game manually (don't use the launch button)
During the game press the numeric 0 button

Well, broke down and bought it. You can rest assured a scene release is imminent, my "luck" never fails. Very Happy

I'll report back as to whether that XML change makes Babylon playable in the standard edition as soon as it's done downloading.

The Cheat Engine trick for the demo works great. I froze three values at 15. The turn counter always flips back to 15 and the date is stuck, but otherwise the game seems to run normally. I'm probably around 300 turns by now.

As others have pointed out, editing the XML is fucking pointless. It's like when idiots recommended changing RequiresAuthorization to false to "crack" the Dragon Age DLC before the real decrypter was available...please *TEST* before you make claims.

I just realized that edited XML values work once, if Civ5CoreDatabase.db file is deleted from:
Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5 Demo\cache folder
But on next start game, it will use default values, irregardless what is in XML files.

Until you delete that file again, when it will work for another game run.

The Steam standard edition retail XML is lacking any mention whatsoever of the Babylon civilization, so it doesn't look like it'll be as simple as editing a flag.

European people who bought it and want to play early, change your download location in steam to one of the US ones (after preloading), close down steam, get a free trial account from a good vpn (I used anonimitynetwork, but any other free one should be good), connect to the VPN, run steam and voila - you can decrypt the game.

Make sure to set steam to offline mode or it will lock civ again after you disconnect from the VPN.

After a few people called him out on it he got pretty verbose about what it is, why it is and even linked to the source code of his Fixer.exe so people can compile it themselves. Maybe someone with a bit of experience can look into it? It's in C#. Doubt I'm allowed to link there, but it's on comment page #4.

The torrent is ridiculously slow, so I won't get to examine the contents for a while now, but if it's still midget gay porn, at least he put more effort into selling it to people than the average hit and run malware uploader.

+He also has a few legit torrents to his name, just throwing that in there.

That torrent is at 3.9% uploaded so far and it will probably take a day at 60kb/s.

The source code, well, it just creates a textfile named rev.ini with some hardcoded text and a shortcut to "RevLoader.exe -appid 8930 -launch launcher.exe". It's actually badly coded and he supplies his own DLL to create the shortcut (I haven't compared the dll with C#'s built in class but I suspect its legit enough).

Aside from that, whether it's legit and whether it will contain viruses will be discovered in.. yeah about 20 hours or however slow 60kb/s is (hint: it's "hella" slow)

I still think it's somewhat hilarious that publishers still, in this day and age of digital distribution, believe that different release dates for different parts of the world are a good, working idea Sad

Well, I just succeeded fixing this by modding CIV5Technologies.xml

By changing Disable tag for TECH_FUTURE_TECH from true to false, game won't hang up when all techs are researched. You'll be able to select future tech and keep playing.

P.S.
I quickly tested it by reducing cost of all other techs to 1. Worked fine, as far as I've seen.

It also appears you can "remove" the turn limit by going into:

..\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v - demo\Assets\UI\InGame\Popups\EndGameMenu.Lua

find function OnBack()

replace it with

Quote:

function OnBack()
UIManager:DequeuePopup( ContextPtr );
--local languageType = Locale.GetCurrentLanguage().Type;
--if languageType == "de_DE" then
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930?l=german");
-- elseif languageType == "it_IT" then
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930?l=italian");
-- elseif languageType == "fr_FR" then
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930?l=french");
-- elseif languageType == "es_ES" then
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930?l=spanish");
-- else
-- Steam.ActivateGameOverlayToWebPage("http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930");
-- end
end

(Clicking the buy the game button will let you continue, in theory, haven't tested it in practice since i got no 100 turn saves)

You can also enable the other civs in the aforementioned civ.xml (Barbarian/mini-civs crashes the game)

i do the stuff for turn limit and that's ok !!! thx dude !

Well, if anyone is curious, you can set up demo to run through RevLoader too. So I wouldn't be surprised if RevLoader is more then enough for full game too.
