The game has no protection... so just download the patch normally...

As far as I can see the latest patch is 1.1 and that is already included in the skidrow release.

it might look like hearts of iron but it's nothing like hearts of iron.
hearts of iron is a war game. victoria is focused on politics, trade, industrialization and colonization.

it has a world map like risk and you play a country.. that's where the similarities end.
this is about 1000x more complex than risk.

Less war more politics and stuff? Sounds as if it's more my kind of game than the HOI games (which I can't do jack shit in Very Happy )

Game is great so far. Playing as UK and saw that China went to war with Burma and like totally wiped out their military. Thinking of declaring war on Burma and trying to pickup some easy territory. We will see how it goes.

Well it worked out pretty well. UK Already contained some of that region or is it state? I get the two mixed up, I now control the rest. Burma is about half the size it was a year ago, China picked up some other territory and I got 3 provinces which was all I was really after.

i had a huge problem (seems to be a big problem on the forum aswell) with rebels going crazy.. like mass mass revolts.. however there was a fix on the forums which seemed to fix it >Very Happy.

Im learning the game the way i do most paradox games... playing for a bit.. learning a bit.. restarting.. doing the same a few times.

I did that in the demo instead of the full game. I'm cruising right along. I had heard about the rebels problem. What is the fix?

Anyone know if its possible to see how much interest you are earning? I noticed that my national bank has loaned several hundred thousand pounds out and I figured the number must be pretty high. Russia alone has borrowed 76,000!

Playing a game as chile.. was going pretty slow trying to get my tech up.. then a HUGE war breaks out in europe.. with prussia on one side.. and austria on the other (Both with a zillion lil allies) ..

Im getting a HUGE influx of immigrants from europe to start a new life here (I have lowered taxes and trying to put my pops to lean towards full citizenship) .. i still have a really low literacy rate.. but the immigrats should help that, they are currently fighting in Bavaria.. looks pretty 5050 to me.

Hopefully they can stay at war .. so people wanna leave and come to my haven of chile Very Happy.

Althou both my neighbours are allied together.. (Argentina to the east, and peru to the north) so i have a alliance with paraguay and uruaguay to counter balance and for a bit of insurance...

Im guessing im getting all the immigrants because i am one of the only stable democracys in south america atm.. + my taxes + the scenery Very Happy

Also Spain and Britain had a giant war.

After playing a good bit. Game needs some balances changed. I have pretty much zero craftsman because RGOs are so profitable. I am swimming in money but my factories can't get any workers. Most of my population is farmers because RGOs make such good money.

1.2 patch in the works.. dev says it fixed those things + lots of balancing + rebel issues etc

there are ALOT of fixes in the forum now thou.. for almost all issues.. since pretty much EVERYTHING can be modded..

One thing this game shows is that by making a game "more accessable" does not have to mean nubbing it up..

This game is actually more complex than VIC1 .. but quite alot more accessable

I want to like the game but i'm to lazy to do all the tutorials and i know i can't play the game if i don't.

Lazyness is a bitch Sad

@Ghworg
Oh, I did all the tutorials (of which there are a fucklot which is a big plus in my book!) but then the game starts and it's like "here's your country, do something" and I'm all like "wtf am I supposed to do here!?"
I am sort of inclined to just start a game and do nothing until people start complaining Very Happy

In Civ4 you start of with a settler. Good, build a city go from there, get that.
In GalCiv2 you get a planet and a colony ship. I can deal with that.
But in Victoria 2 (or HoI) for that matter I just don't have a freaking clue

Are there any difficulty options? Lately, Paradox games have been pretty constrictive, freedom-wise. Unless you pick a superpower, your choices are extremely limited, and you could spend the entire game working up your country to be merely decent. This'd mean it would be all over by the time you can actually do something important.

So I'd intend to use the easier difficulty settings (if they even exist) when playing a small nation, so it has better chances of doing something worthy in the world within a reasonable timeframe, as opposed to spending 50 years to build its first factory (figuratively speaking).

this is supposed to be a bad thing?
there are no real 'goals' in life either.. we set them ourselves and do our best to live by them
i much rather have a game without goals than a single compulsory arbitrary one

like in making history i played as germany and made it my mission to avoid confrontation and forge an alliance with the united states and then take over the world
it took as long as the entire real second world war to get the alliance going, but the emotional reward for accomplishing personal goals is much higher than anything a dev might come up with

I'm not saying sandbox is a bad thing.
What I mean is I would have liked to get a couple of hints at the start. Like maybe you should make sure your country's producing shit. Take a look at the taxes to make sure you make money
And while I'm writing this I realize that's what I should do *headdesk*
Don't mind me, I'm crazy!

I downloaded this for my brother and me to play multi and I have to say it's been great fun. Apart from a few annoying issues that will probably be patched, it is pretty interesting managing the countries. I've never played Europa Universalis or Hearts of Iron because I always considered them too intimidating without even trying but so far I'm liking Victoria 2. I think we played today for like 4-5 hours straight and only got through about 25 years, playing as Denmark and Sweden. Looking forward to trying out a bigger, more involved country.
