Getting ready for Valencia Street Circuit , Turkey and Canada were really easy compared to Monaco , played the Marina Bay Circuit for kicks and it's fucking hard
At first i thought that there were signs of rubberband AI too , but not i'm skeptical since i managed to overtake the last car in 14 laps and wasnt far from the next one either . The first few races Webber was really kicking my ass , doing perfect laps and shit like that , but the AI tends to fuck up at certain points .
hardest circuit for me so far was suzuka but i think only because i had fairly low downforce, i was easy on pole but in the race webber , hamilton , button ,alonso , vettel were all pulling out 2 seconds a lap once i was on hards
Any others getting this bug
Did a 50% race in monza ,came in 6th
And got declared the WINNER
Checked back on the forums and it seems its a common issue along with the ai quali times been randomly generated ,not tied to them actually going around the track
wtf, that visibility's like the movie "the fog" but with f1 cars instead of tentacles.
It's all scythes and glowing eyes in "the fog". I guess you are thinking of "the mist"?
As for game: Works great on ultra on my fairly old PC (8800gtx, C2D e6850, 4GB ram). No hiccups really so far. Sound probs at first, fixed by switching to rapture/hardware. Looks great in the rain, looks OK in the dry.
FUN with wheel (not so much with keys/pad) - works fine with my old old guillemot (now thrustmaster) Ferrari FFB wheel and pedals - motor is very strong in that one. The FFB programming in the game could be more refined and with more triggers, but it does the job.
Good work on PC I say, it could have been a lot worse looking at most modern PC versions of X-platform games, a shame they took away the physical discs for sale as I would have probably bought it this weekend as I feel it deserves it, however I'm not paying MORE than typical physical for a d/l version with DRM, bad move codies - when will they realise that fighting piracy* really does turn more possible buyers to piracy. (case in point Sony's ass backwards reactions/updates to the PS3 hack)
*Piracy and/or 2nd hand game sales which they hate, but fail to release is a big reason we've all put up with stupidly high game prices all these years cos we knew we could always 'sell it on' and get something back. Fine you don't want 2nd hand game sales and will now make it impossible with serials and d/ls only - how about you reduce the price to reflect this cos your $50 asking price isn't going to happen, without the resale ability, on a large scale.
The MP is missing a couple of features but it's pretty entertaining tbh.
Hmm, that looks quite OK. Same thing as with GRiD though, 1 lap race! It's not even funny how silly those get, pure destruction derby.
Hmm, does the session browser fit more that 10 races? With GRiD you could only see one page and on peak hour friends couldn't see others sessions, etc. (until fixed).

Physical copies will surely return. It was just whole digital only exclusivity on launch. Most likely got payed to do so and now they have money to work on 2011
But same thing here, not paying double the price on download, what boxed copy would cost. Good thing is by the time they have fixed the bugs, you should be able to buy DVD version too. Hopefully by that time all the crashers in the game have already got bored with it too

edit: This game makes you feel such a loser Finally started my first career race. Practiced a few laps and left rear puncture (guess spins and curbs didn't help). New set of tyres and new setup and after 7 laps right rear puncture.. Ragequit practice -> qualify and got 7th!
Then to (10%) race and now that I finished in top 10 can't get a fresh pair of soft tyres, they were in 90% quality. Start of the line great, only lost 2 places 2 laps and then the spinning started, rear tyres to yellow, engineer tells to get in on 3rd lap, spin again now tyres orange.
Position 23rd (one DNF), Clock makes additional pit stop and I can see him, so start to drive like mad man to catch. Even managed to pass, but the the hard tyres also go yellow, I spin and finish last..
Well it was with expert + fuel simulation, but AI intermediate, as they are faaaast. Time to suck at career weekend nro. 2! ->
Question:-
@T4RG4 Love the game, but 1 question; why don't you use real times in quali and practice? I caught Webber on track, but his time was faster?!
Answer:-
@Noelinho Because we couldn't make them compete in Qualy this time out Looking to sort that though
Seems the ai dont have fuel loads in races like you do ,
half the time they dont pit
and can put in faster times in the wet than in the dry.
Oh for fuck's sake! AI cars in Qualy being purely cosmetic? What the hell were they thinking? Is the AI that bad that they can't get good enough qualifying times?
I haven't been through this entire thread but I did spot a post by someone called mav16? He has the right idea
It's fair to say it was a little battle to not use the rubber band system of earlier games. One reason I didn't want to use this system is down to the fact we have far more cars in F1 than found in your traditional racer. That means the player is more likely to have competition around him during the race. Personally I don't mind running out and alone when the situation dictates it. That's part of racing to me. Nevertheless...
There are a couple of elements taking from the systems of old (and therefore sharing some XML parameters and code features because we have worked this game into an existing structure) but used in a slightly more realistic (IMO) manner.
For example - During a race, if the lead car has a big lead, he'll start to drive a little slower to conserve his car & maintain his pace. If the gap is reduced he will, at some point, start to respond if able. That to me, is exactly what people do in real races. On the lowest difficulties a couple of more things come into play but we're in no way using the system as poorly as you might imagine
Hope that clears a couple of things up - we used the system to better replicate what drivers do in real life.
And I was bugged about never getting sector 3 time (do any of you get that?). Engineer keeps saying, sector 1 is good, well I was fastest of anyone in it. And that I'm losing time on sector 2 & 3. Go to check how much behind I'm others, but can't as there is hardly any S3 times even for AI.
Is that "looking to sort that though" as in patch or for F1 2011? Kinda makes me sad panda, when big part of qualifying is if you have free road ahead, how's the track grip and do you need to go out for the final push.
Do hope they make one big great patch the save it all.
For the rubberband thing. Well that I don't mind as much, as it sort of mimics what fuel mixture setting does in real F1. They ran out of fuel, if they don't use lean mixture in some point of the race. If you lead by a cap, surely that's the point to do it -> you go slower.
Or like when a top team messes up qualify and ends up in the low end of the back, he'll surely use richest mixture to get pass the slower cars and try and catch the lead cars.
Can someone please explain how to play online with teknogods thing?
First, you need to install Tunngle and make an account.Next, you extract that Teknogods beta 17 archive to any dir but gamedir. And then:
1. Run Tunngle, enter the room Sports\F1 2010
2. Run teknohelper.exe
3. Click on "Automatic Mode (Client)" and wait for it to set it up
4. Run the game, go to Multiplayer -> LAN
5. Go to "Find game" or whatever it says, and press F12. You should hear some sounds
6. When you find a game, join it, and then press F12 again, and you should, again, hear some sounds. If you don't press it, the game will probably crash.
7. That's it, play.

So when i go to multiplayer and LAN, i can browse games same as if i had original? Can i also host game (race)?
I use traction control because i don't have a wheel and pedals, playing on legend difficulty without any other assists and getting 5 second lap times better than anyone with a Lotus, is there any way that i can simulate a real life situation but without turning the traction off, i cant play without it because my controller doesnt have pressure sensitivity.
Thanks
EDIT: Just tried with the medium traction control setting, i am 1st with kovalainen 1 second in front of the pack, absolutely cant play without traction control
