Game seems to run well, one thing I noticed though is the audio during cutscenes is ridiculously quiet. I have volume mixer up on my 2nd monitor and it was using like 2% of max volume at most.

As a note by modifying the main exe LIVE won't initialize at all since the exe is altered (Those .cat/.cfg file info data.) so that's why it won't work, interesting workaround though. Smile

So there is a hash check in those files, are they encrypted? cause if they're not you could just inject the new hash value.

I am unsure about the specifics but yes I imagine that's essentially it, can one even mod .cat files though as those are secure aren't they?.
(The cfg isn't a issue but does not contain the relevant data.)

I am also surprised the game actually worked at all since only a very few of the available LIVE games will work with LIVE disabled (Can be initialized by renaming either of the files.) such as Fallout 3, most will complain about not being able to initialize properly and crash / shut down.
(XLiveLess for GTA IV worked around it.)

As for saving is it absolute certain, don't you use those restroom urinals to save? I've not tested however.

Just tested creating a launcher which patches the check with writeprocessmemory and resumes the process. Still no GFWL menu. The game is loading the xlive.dll still but probably has some shit to determine that the game isn't released yet, so it doesn't init.

edit: appears that XNetStartup is failing with error code 10093.

it might just be because of the crack i'm not sure but so far i haven't been able to get my wireless 360 gamepad to work now every one with a usb 360 gamepad says it works but i don't have one to test only my wireless

I hope it works OK eventually as I only have the wireless 360 controller. Once I check out the game I'll probably buy this one anyway so can anyone confirm wireless works ok in retail?

I loved the first game on my (now dead and long gone) 360, so fun and atmospheric. I hope 2 can keep the attention to detail and immersion.

Interesting about the launcher but the game should be active since it can be played in a few regions, unsure though.

Been going at it like a demo and just having fun and not being very serious about it, helps learn the gameplay mechanics for those of us who didn't play the first or the "demo DLC" prequel or what that was.




(Yeah that rubber dildo and handbag made poor weapon choices.)

Unfortunately interacting with clothes means you put them on and then you're stuck with that outfit until you find a new one (I couldn't find the old one but the zombies weren't helping either.), I'll remember it for the next playtrough.
(Of course as you can see on the mannequins you do know what you are picking up but I was hoping to store it and build up a complete collection of collectibles instead of instantly switching into it when I picked it up.)

Still there are bound to be weirder costumes around aside from the pre-order (Console) extras.
(Ninja costume and psycho killer outfit and whatever else there was.)

You can change back into Chuck's original outfit by pressing the use button on the set of clothes you're currently wearing, little thing should read 'Return Clothes'
