Yep, you can use any size you want - as long as the HDD physically fits in the slot (9mm not 12.5mm, which pretty much means most any laptop 2.5" hdd under 750GB) |
if that would be true then GO=GB but
WTH 1go = 9 gig ???!!!! on PS3 ????

GB=GO, yes.. it's equal, just a different nomenclature. As for what happened with your fucked up weirdness? Take a guess, mate. The PS3 seems to be a VERY unusual piece of hardware.

thats why i don't get PS3 free space counting system, if 1go = 9 gig then 35go should be 315gb, but its not, on the PS3 35 go its 80gb making 1 go = 2,286 gb ???!!! WTF
one time 1go = 9 gig the other 1 go = 2,286 gb eeeehhhhhmmmmmm thats ps3 fucked up weirdness fucking counting free space system
or the ps3 compresses data on the fly ??

You mean it's useless if I put in a 7200rpm hard drive? It will work as a 5200rpm one?

Thats the HDD I just installed in my PS3. And yeah getting the 5400rpm is much better because it will produce less heat. 7200rpm HDD's gets the PS3 way hotter.
Also the moment you install it the PS3 will only show 412 Gigs out of 465Gigs. Thats normal, because Sony is fucking gay and wants to steal 12% of HD space for no fucking reason.

I just had a chat with the PSJB people on MSN. They say that they have an update coming that will work with the latest firmwares. They wouldn't go into any detail as they say they want to stay one step ahead of the clones.

That makes two of us. I don't believe a word of it |
To be fair, they are the original ones that already accomplished the impossible once and made even all of this so far possible. ;p
I'm willing to throw them a little faith that they might have a new trick up their sleeve, they've already enabled a lot of amazing work.
What if they had said they hacked the PS3 before announcing jailbreak, no one would have believed them, but they did it.

to be honest with every day that goes past, I suspect psjailbreak was just a way to get the hack out into the wild and make a few quid in the process.

I might be imagining this, but I've been messing around this morning using my ipod to jailbreak the PS3 and I've noticed that everything seems to load slower that when I use my PSjailbreak. I wonder if this could have something to do with the payloads being different but I don't know enough about it to speculate.
Even the backup manager takes longer to load than it does when using the dongle.

Code: | 1 gibioctet (Gio) = 230 octets = 1,024 Mio = 1,073,741,824 octets
1 tebioctet (Tio) = 240 octets = 1,024 Gio = 1,099,511,627,776 octets
1 pebioctet (Pio) = 250 octets = 1,024 Tio = 1,125,899,906,842,624 octets
1 exbioctet (Eio) = 260 octets = 1,024 Pio = 1,152,921,504,606,846,976 octets
1 zebioctet (Zio) = 270 octets = 1,024 Eio = 1,180,591,620,717,411,303,424 octets
1 yobioctet (Yio) = 280 octets = 1,024 Zio = 1,208,925,819,614,629,174,706,176 octets
The SI prefixes kilo, mega, giga, tera, etc., stay the same as for all the SI units, based on power of 10. In this case:
1 kilooctet (ko) = 103 octets = 1,000 octets
1 megaoctet (Mo) = 106 octets = 1,000 ko = 1,000,000 octets
1 gigaoctet (Go) = 109 octets = 1,000 Mo = 1,000,000,000 octets |
GO isn't GB
GIO = GB

Tell me about it. The dongle has probably been "lost in the mail", just like practically every other fucking thing I've had sent to me.
*shrugs*
