Can't seem to connect via FTP though, which is odd. WinSCP and FlashFXP both complain about the connecting timing out (using Blackb0x FTP 1.1) Ran it in PASV mode, as it was supposed to be, but still nadda. I'll try the stock (or even Blackb0x 1.0) FTP program on the PS3.

Disable? I thought it was *meant* to be in PASV mode? Ok then, once this file manager transfer has finished, I'll try it again without PASV.

Yeah passive should be disabled and most people use FlashFXP. I use it too and have no problems whatsoever. What IP settings are you using? Unsure if it can be a router or software firewall issue.

I believe it's a router issue (I can't ping my PS3 from CMD) so I'm working on it now.

-edit-

All done =) T'was my own fault, I forgot to set the default gateway to my router. It's all working now via FlashFXP and Blackb0x. I've been looking through the options, but I can't seem to find how to specify # of connections in FlashFXP. Is the option even there? Or a way of seeing total size of folder on remote client?

Question: Does jailbreaking your PS3 also enable playing PS2 games somehow (on the PS3s that don't have the backwards compatibility)? There were rumors of this in the beginning of September...

No, sorry mate. PSJailbreak team "claimed" that their upcoming Backup Manager 2.0 would allow this, but they're full of shit.

Oh and sad news;

Google decided they prefer Sony's huge cock in their ass, as well as a nice wad of cash in their back pocket, rather than having morals or scruples. They've taken down the PSJB game compatibility list, claiming it "violated Terms of Service"

O FUCKING RLY? I didn't know a spreadsheet listing whether games work from a HDD or not was considered to be against ANYONE'S terms of "service" Sellout cowardly cock suckers.

Heh, yah, seems like a good site. I was thinking about asking these guys if they needed any help... but then again, don't want Sony to come after me. Wink

Let's see how long before Sony's lawyers go after the ISP hosting PSJCL.com Crying or Very sad

Anyway, enough about the sad news. I got my JB all running gloriously, every app is configured and working, and all the games are playable too. The ones I have on my external were all listed on the compat-list as functional and I've even managed to get Heavy Rain working from external too ^_^

47GB left on internal which will be for games like Uncharted and Resistance. Once I get a large HDD I'll no doubt bump pretty much all the "important" games onto the internal and use the external for non-essentials.

I've been using Comgenie's Awesome File Manager and it's good, but for now a couple of niggly issues hold it back from being truly "awesome";

*No progress bar, so it's impossible to know exactly how far along your copying is.
*No way of checking folder sizes, only individual FILE sizes. This is just clunky and confusing.

DJLO is going to release his database tonight and is asking if anyone wants to take over control Wink

Can´t believe how far Sony is pushing this. Even worse is that google and others adhere to their demands. Weak.

I think it's only going to get worse from here. I just hope the homebrew coders aren't being scared off, because there's so much more that could make this JB even better! ^_^

Why? Do you think that 3.50 will be the last firmware release by SONY to combat the jailbreak? We'll always be one step behind so if that bothers you then we might aswell not wake you up at all. Rolling Eyes

just crossed the dark side too (i still am on the green side though Wink) and wanna add a tip for you guys... Most (not ALL) games that install data to the hdd install the same files as the game you already have on your internal hdd or external hdd... So what I did for example with Ratchet & Clank Quest for Booty is to delete the data file from the game folder, but left the one it installed : now the game is only 200MB and works perfectly Very Happy

Another tip : a game like killzone 2 has 6GB of useless videos : just copy the 8MB dummy file over & over to fill these up and just keep intro_insertyourlanguage.avi.
You can delete all languages except yours in Uncharted 2 too, saving ~4GB, better than nothing if you ask me.

Oh and remove the SCEJ folder in Little Big Planet : it's just all the videos of the game from the japeanse version...

Even though I have a slim 120gb, it's hard to store all these big games on that hdd, specially when you only have 97GB free max...

Yup and another tip from me;

Uncharted 1 has almost 4GB of additional language speech files which can be removed. Just keep the language file you want =)

\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\build\main\sound1\speech

And you can also remove the PS3_UPDATE folder from every game too, it impacts nothing and saves you 250MB. Not much on its own, but it all adds up.
