Awesome game, I'm into chapter 2 and game's getting better and better. Combat is quite challenging too, in comparison to other action games.

And I can confirm there are no visible fps issues. Game looks fantastic considering it's a console game.

fuck yeah.

Is there a good "feel" to the fighting? It sucked in ie enslaved. Never going back to that game. Laughing

Well your health is quite low, so you have to fight wisely. If you fight well, you start getting Neutral Elemental Orbs for each successful hit, and if you get hit you stop getting them. These Orbs replenish your Light magic energy, that you use to enter Light magic stance, in which you gain health for each successful attack.

It's interesting mechanic, I never seen such in other game. It forces you to be careful in battle, so you can't basically button mashing for whole game.

Thanks a ton for the confirmation.

You can swap discs, but I prefer installing to HDD. I downloaded DVD1, burnt it and played the game while DVD2 was still downloading.

Wait, you mean both discs need to be installed? I assume the 2 DVD is for continuation disc required for game progress, correct?

So if the first DVD's progress ends, all we need to do is to load DVD2 and continue from there right?

I don't think you need to install any DVD on HDD, I just prefer it to avoid the loud noise that 360 drive does when playing from game disc Smile

Each disc has two gb of raw game data, and the rest of it is four gb of .bik videos

And since the game is from Kojima Productions, its probably another fail like Metal Gear Cut Scene 4. 2 Hours of play, 20 hours of cut scenes.

Metal Gear 4 was fucking awesome I just replayed it and its even better the second time. Some of us enjoy a good story and dont care if there are long videos its during these moments I smoke a bowl or get a beer. To each their own I guess but Metal gear 4 was hardly a failure considering how well it sold and was reviewed.

It's great game overall. I'm having quite hard time occasionally, if you aren't into action hack'n'slash games then I advice easier difficulty, and if you change the difficulty in settings if you feel it's too easy/hard. It takes some time to get used to camera style, and sometimes camera position/angle isn't very great especially when climbing and platforming.

Not worth wasting 2 Dual Layer Discs for a 10 hour game. Gonna wait for PS3 version, no Discs required, straight into the HDD.

Hey idiot, people above me were saying it was a 10 hour game, I was going by what they were saying idiot.

Still not worth 2 dual layer discs. PS3 HDD FTW

read noob

Quote:
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will be pulling a Final Fantasy XIII; according to producer Dave Cox, the game will ship on two discs on the Xbox 360 while the PS3 version will be getting one.

The problem, as it has always been in this scenario, is with storage, as the PS3′s Blu-ray discs are capable of holding a great deal more information than the 360′s DVDs.

Cox went on to mention that this particular problem will be one that Microsoft will be seeing “more and more” of in the future.

“Microsoft actually sent their tech guys to the studio to see the game and look at [how we're] compressing it, but they said: ‘Okay it’s good. You’re doing all you can,” Cox said.

Things don’t look all that bad, as Cox also promised that the first disc will allow players to install the game so that it can be played in full on the second disc.

The game is also slated to be 24 hours long, as Cox reports that “our longest one [cut-scene] is 14 minutes, which is the end sequence…We have so much variety and we re-use very little assets.”

The game must be huge.

Played for a bunch of hours now and about midway thru chapter 2. When looking at the map it looks like there is 12 chapters!?

While I do like the artistic style I´m not too sure about the setting itself. Forest was cool, but now in second chapter it´s even further away from the origins. But still some "aha" moments here and there. It´s a good looking game! Blown up on the wall some scenes are truly epic!

And yeah hard was hard. Needed to lower it, untill I have the fighting mechanics covered.

Wished there was a way to take away "shiny objects gab here!" setting.

Like tolanri said also. Cameraman drunk sometimes. For being super easy platformer, there are way too many deaths. Some of those the cameraman is to blame.

Great game still. Long time since a really good action/adventure game (Bayonetta/darksiders). Need to play some more.

edit: love it

Chapter 3 and 4 have 2 parts, but I'd say there are also other chapters as long as chapter 2.

I'll wait for some opinions of people who finished it. Almost every game is fun and exciting at start, problems might appear later in the game. Won't waste 2DVDs to find out that first 5h is fresh and fun, but the rest is the same old shit with stupid puzzles and losuy platforming. So, finish it, and share with us!

Almost @ the second LoS.

This game is freaking awesome Smile
I'm @ disc 2 now, wich i nstalled on HDD btw, so the quote above is not accurate anymore since both discs need/can be installed.

Anyway, second disc, second LoS and still enyoing it to the max.
The combat is GREAT and as stated above, hard is HARD! i'm doing my first play trough @ normal and still i die in combat.
The platforming is seriously not bad, i died 5 times due to my own fault and not the camera's fault.
Jump, and look, that's the key it's not automated @ all, you seriously need to watch bnefore you jump.
And the glimmer is only there once, when you backtrack the glimmer is gone, since the game knows you have already been here and you must remember where to jump up.

I'm always 'exploring' to find the secrets and hidden upgrades.

So far i have my life bar upgraded twice, and my mana ( both light and dark) also twice.
I found some upgrades for the daggers, and that's it Razz

Still need shitloads, gonna backtrack soon to find the other stuff.

Furthermore, the cutscene's as very well done, and IF you die just after an cutscene you can skip it always when you restart.

Overall, i think i'm 40/50% in the game now, i still need 7 more chapters iirc and i know i'm gonna have a blast until the end.

@ the reviewers bitching @ the platforming, learn to freaking WATCH before you jump.
It's far from an automated platformer, watch, point, jump.
Just like it should be.

Off to bed, gonna play again tommorow Very Happy

Even if first 5h are fun it would be worth to spend 1DVD, since in order to play first half the the game you require only first disc Smile

If anyone finds out how to get those two images extracted and working via ftp to a jtagged xbox please tell me. Sure they extract fine, and ftping each over would work, but what would I do once the game demands the second disc? I do have verbs, but am WAY too lazy to ever burn any games for my xbox again Cool Face

i use iso2god to rip the padding and bullshit out of the games and i store everything on my internal hard drive and don't use any externals. supposedly using that method when you're playing and prompted for the 2nd disc, you just press guide, then go to your games and launch the 2nd disc from there.

Yep, noticed that when I replayed a level. Nice touch, but would have been much nicer if the glimmer feature was only in the game on easiest difficulty setting.

Disagree with you about camera though. It´s rare, but it does happen that the camera is completely off. I recall one time where I couldn´t even see my character. The camera sat behind leaves covering the upper left screen, which was already hard to spot, due to it being far away.

Also some trial and error.

But, yeah it´s not as bad as some reviewers made it out.

@sabin
Buy some verbs, it needs to be played now!

Love it. Razz

You can always revisit those places. And I think you don't have to finish them, just go back, find what you need and switch to another level via the map screen.

Mi thoughts exatly.

The game is great, combat is fluid but not automated, you need quick reflexes and wise use of magic to stay alive, but it never becomes frustrating.
Platforming doesn't seem to have any of the problems some reviews mentioned, you always know where to go and camera is almost always functional.

Exploration is decent, tho as mentioned in the quote, I *hate* when games taunt you with unreachable power-ups that you have to backtrack later. DMC does this too, and it's annoying imho.
Also not a fan of the "you can't go back" checkpoints, ie: when a jump or cutscene brings you to a portion of the level where you can't backtrack. Since the path branches quite often, it's annoying realizing you have followed the "main" path and now can't go back to check out the secondary ones, which probably bring you to power-ups.

But this is really nit-picking, the game is awesome so far, so I can forgive little nuisances like these.
