Guess I'll try the beta drivers, but I've got to say I'm not holding my breath at this point...

Have any other DLCs in form of civilization packages come out recently or it's just Babylon thus far?

Arghlbarghl.
Installed and runs fine on my pc but on my laptop?
Bah. Crash before the intro.
Gonna reinstall and try without the update :/
edit:
Same OS on desktop and laptop. Both run Win 7 64 bit.
Both run (roughly) the same CPU.
desktop got an ATI HD 5700 and the laptop an ATI mobility radeon HD 3400 so I got no clue where the poblem lies :/

Okay, worked it out. Pretty silly actually.
So during the setup the installation of VC++ redis 2008 failed.
Now why did it fail? Easy because Windows bugged me since yesterday evening to shut my laptop down so it could install the latest win 7 updates.
And the pending win7 updates kept it from installing vc++ 2008 correctly :/
Suffice to say I installed the windows updates. Installed the redistributable correctly and it runs.
Whatever

Today I noticed a very nasty exploit that AI is allowed to use, read on but it may ruin a game for you
Spoiler: | AI has no penalty for negative gold balance, so it can maintain a huge armies. And at diplomacy screen I have seen some insane debt figures -500, -1000, -4000, etc. So, as soon as AI manages to acquire around 7 cities it starts to unit spam especially if it borders are close enough to someone else. And only "thanks" to a weak tactical AI, you can beat it even if AI army is twice as large as yours.
So, if a player ends with AI neighbors it's a total war till only one remains the master of the continent. Delaying attack makes AI spam more cities, more units and eventually AI starts to mock player on how puny he is and finally attacks.
With isolated start it's just PvE game against barbarians till your cover continent with your cities or spam enough units to do fog busting. Then depending on continent size it's either culture victory or space / diplomatic one. |

Please let that be a bug. That would be more than unfair if that was really intended to be that way.

i've also seen this but they seem to balance that out through trades, micro managing production pretty often a few turns later when they run low on gold so it could be just good A.I. behavior

I think it's OK for AI to cheat, in order to compensate for it's weaknesses.
But still, if AI is bad with unit maintenance, then give him unit maintenance discount, instead of allowing negative income.

Could be, and the negative gold per turn you see at the diplomacy screen might be updated before AI turn begins, and as soon as player ends his turn AI manages to fix it...
But I still think behavior is inconsistent with what player gets.
Spoiler: | As soon as player has no more gold to pay per turn expenses, the amount is deducted from science and every turn / every other turn a single random unit get disbanded.
In most maps I have played most of AI had negative balance around Renaissance Era, trading pretty much stops by then and barter of luxury resources begins with occasional sell at fixed price trades. So the only way for AI to get that much gold is thru production micro managing. But I checked AI that have the same amount of cities as I do, mine are mostly improved with Trading Posts, AI's have quite a lot of farms and AI still can maintain a much bigger army.
So I think that AI is either immune to unit disbanding or have much lower unit gold maintenance costs. |

Well. Installed a mod that gave me correct earth mapand correct starting locations.
Started as Elizabeth (since Germany is not available :/ ).
Never ever use a standard map with that. England is about 4 tiles big and the rest of the world is equally small so you have no way than to wage war immediately.
Anyways. Wipe France off the map after a prolonged war (which consisted of me sending warrior after warrior over the channel with my great general).
Then I thought "Hey, let's take Rome down!". About 60 turns later Rome was still not done for.
By then the whole european continent is filled to the brim with the russians and the ottomans (no clue where they came from).
So I'm trying to conquer Rome and BAM Russia with it's ally Rio De Janeiro (wtf?) and the Ottomans with their ally Oslo declared war on me and overran me with swordmen.
Why? I had one iron source and no horses.
So standard is way too small for that mod (plus some weird shit happened. Like Ghandi aksing me for a secret pact against Catherine and the next round Ghandi declares on me for being at war with Catherine).
After the Ottomans took my three continental cities from me and Oslo and Catherine were in the waters in front of London I just quit. Fuck that shit D:

@Mister_s
baseline of that rant was supposed to be that (I'm too lazy to look up which mod it is) but standard is way too small a map
Even though I lost I still had a good time and when I get some more money I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy it

I always go for huge now, it pisses me off when I get confronted with five different nations in an hour. Especially if you play pangea, the standard map is too small and gets frustrating.

Ok, seems like the smaller dlc package contains all the game changing elements then, just checked and saw that I have the mesopotamia already.

does anyone know if the real legit game is as buggy as the cracked version online?
anything over 4 players and you struggle to get a game to even load without 1 person crashing out.
its quite laggy often what feels like 2 seconds of lag when trying to do anything.
and doesthe legit version have loads of people playing?
im tempted to buy it but my experience of playing online already is putting me off

I've not had many issues playing with a friend online.
Although, the MP itself has many issues. No mods, even shitter AI than in SP, and so on.
