this, found this out yesterday. Minecraft.net was down so it asked me to play offline but still gave the option of MP, join server and you get default player. |

Wouldn't you rather have a large somewhat bug free update than a few smaller ones that might end up causing more issues than fixes, I certainly feel that fishing functionality and biomes are not so important that they need to be pushed out as fast as possible.

the game is alpha, I wouldn't worry so much about features yet, let him get things stable and what not first before adding a crap ton of more features that can cause more issues. |

except as far as anyone can tell he's not doing anything. He's not making it stable, he's not working on anything to actually do with the game. Someone posted a timeline over at the official forums, and before he got famous there were tons of updates. He was actaully updating more when he had a day job. Now that the game has become famous the updates have basically stopped for weeks actually.
he's sitting around playing Civ5 and using "starting a company" as an excuse to do nothing to the game, except that is only something recent in the last 2-3 weeks. The 2-3 weeks before that who knows what his excuse was.

If you bought the game and are pissed, it's your fault for paying for something that's ALPHA and nothing promised.
If you haven't paid for it, then shut up.
I've paid for it, I know it's alpha, I expect it not to go anywhere cause it's alpha and I paid for it and I also I know he's got other shit to do with his life other than minecraft, he's trying to start a studio (from what I've read) he's hiring people ( from what I've read) which takes up more time than most people realize.
Lets see you start working on a game and while trying to start a company, keep the game fresh.

[edit] does anyone else have issues with going through doors? I go to walk through them and I get "warped" right back to the other side like some never ending lag or something. There a trick to getting through?

The game was pushed as heavily in development and advertised as "alpha" anyone with half a brain realizes that means beta and a finished project is coming "someday". especially since there is constant mention of an impending beta and price increase.

This is a fail argument. It's quite apparent you've got your lips wrapped firmly around his asshole like half the community on the official forums, but there are plenty who don't, and the disgruntled masses seem to be increasing each day.
As I already pointed out, the updates stopped 2-3 weeks before he suddenly announced that he was starting a company.
Yeah, he made an interesting game, wow kudos for that, but then as soon as the money rolled in he's more or left it by the side of the road in the ditch with excuse after excuse. As someone pointed out on the forum, it would be trivial for him to even code something cheap like "boiled eggs" as a use for eggs as even something.
instead he's left them there for weeks doing nothing.

well regardless how he's treating the game, I've got more play out of this game for the 15 bucks I paid for it than I did any other game released since baldur's gate II and eve online.
My money well spent, I honestly could care less if it's left to die. I bought the game cause I liked how it was as is, if it gets updated fine, Im not gunna act like the rest expecting anything, I paid for an alpha, I knew what I was getting myself into.

you clearly don't understand the meaning behind an alpha. From what i've seen and played of the game it's *clearly* in an alpha state, definitely NOT beta. And he's made no secret of that. Especially the multiplayer where are ton of features that work in single player don't work in multi. But hey, I don't mind. I'm not operating as though I've got a sense of entitlement like some seem to be. Relax. Enjoy the game. If you don't like it, don't play it. Simple. It's an alpha afterall. It'll get better.

None the less Im getting a huge kick out of these children over the other forums crying about the no updates, im starting to feel a bit ashamed to be part of the pc gaming crowd.
Impossible to fucking please, want it all and want it now. They bitch when they pay full price for a PC game that's released as the "full version" and it's buggy as hell and say it shoulda never been released. This game clearly states on the paid for version its the fucking ALPHAAAAAAA and what do people do? They cry about the bugs and patching process. Those who downloaded the free version whine even more.
I hate to say this but these "pc gamers" are getting worse than the consoltards they grow to hate. They were stupid enough to pay for a game that was clearly in alpha QQ QQ QQ

I never said it wasn't alpha. I said because it was in alpha, we'd expect natural development to occur and beta to happen at some point, which means improvement. In fact Notch has said several times that beta is coming, the problem is, it isn't happening and all forward progress as far as anyone can tell has stopped.
The sense of entitlement comes from purchasing something clearly described as:
1 . a "prepurchase" - which means a finished product is coming at some point
2. an "alpha" - which is an early stage of development followed by a beta and a finished product
3. a product described as being in "heavy development"
4. a product which until a few weeks ago was getting heavy updating (search the official forums, there is a great timeline) on a regular schedule
All of those point to an expectation of more to come and nothing of substance happening in weeks.
In June/July the guy doubled or tripled the content in the game. August there were a couple small things, it got popular, and he stopped. Basically nothing has happened since then except for a couple of small "server" fixes and his saying he's suddenly starting a company. As someone else also pointed out on the forum, this is a guy who banged out an entire game in a couple days awhile ago. suddenly he can't take an afternoon and just add something, anything to even say thanks for the millions? (which for the record stands at just over $4million USD as of writing this post)
Regardless of how busy this guy is, he isn't meeting with lawyers 24/7, he likely isn't meeting them on weekends, and unless he was up on capitol murder charges, there is no way he's so tied up with them he could get a few hours away to do something, anything with the game, other than push the hamsters a little faster so that he can get more payments. The server still sucks and this guy has pulled in millions. I used to build servers for industrial control systems. in a week I could put together a server that would control gas pipelines on a national level, and it wouldn't cost all that much. There is no way this guy can't have arranged even a better server by this point.
He got rich off word of mouth, and if he doesn't start producing again soon, the word of mouth is going to turn on him. The forums are already growing noticeably disgruntled and the fanboys are having trouble coming up with new plausible excuses. At some point they're going to have to start personally swearing they were spending the afternoon fellating him and that's why he was so busy that he couldn't update.
