Never ever use a standard map with that. England is about 4 tiles big and the rest of the world is equally small so you have no way than to wage war immediately.
Anyways. Wipe France off the map after a prolonged war (which consisted of me sending warrior after warrior over the channel with my great general).
Then I thought "Hey, let's take Rome down!". About 60 turns later Rome was still not done for.
By then the whole european continent is filled to the brim with the russians and the ottomans (no clue where they came from).
So I'm trying to conquer Rome and BAM Russia with it's ally Rio De Janeiro (wtf?) and the Ottomans with their ally Oslo declared war on me and overran me with swordmen.
Why? I had one iron source and no horses.
So standard is way too small for that mod (plus some weird shit happened. Like Ghandi aksing me for a secret pact against Catherine and the next round Ghandi declares on me for being at war with Catherine).
After the Ottomans took my three continental cities from me and Oslo and Catherine were in the waters in front of London I just quit. Fuck that shit D: |

it's a real shame what the this great game actually is. a full bugs pack!!
we have to wait maybe some months before this one is fixed. ai, war, diplomacy are making this game unplayable in the later times.

anything over 4 players and you struggle to get a game to even load without 1 person crashing out.
its quite laggy often what feels like 2 seconds of lag when trying to do anything.
and doesthe legit version have loads of people playing?
im tempted to buy it but my experience of playing online already is putting me off |
Its the same. |
guess ill pass then... pitty the game is so shit compared to IV it probably needed another 6 months development time
btw has anyone noticed as soon as you join a lobby steam.exe starts using pretty much a full coreon its own? WTF is with that

Guess I should consider not being able to play the new Civ game as a blessing in disguise...

Yep, there are a few nasty bugs, but vanilla civ4 was the same. The game is still amazing. I just can't stop playing it.

Anyone encountered a bug with Babylon where when you sign a 10 turn peace treaty it never expires so you can't attack them anymore?
Asus, B550, 3700X, 3060, 32GB.

Have you patched the game? There is such bug in the unpatched version.

I temporarily quit playing the game for the time being (at least for a week or two). I'm going to wait for leastways 3 or 4 patches to come out. It's not a flamboyant bugfest in my case instead of determinate, unalterable and really irritating crashes. Two completely identical crash/freeze occurrences have happened to me by far: I choose en empire, settings and map to play. Then I spend 4-5 hours of gameplay without ANY interruptions whatsoever. And then a crash happens out of the blue. Well, it's really ok by me to have a crash be after that much hours. No biggie. And when I have passed a decent number of turns (500-600), it comes a point (more like a fixed turn number) which is impassable. No matter what I do - reinstall, change pacthes, or no patches, load autosaves, load my previous saves, change in-game settings - I CANNOT continue past that specific turn number. It happened to me with France (682 turn) and now with Greece (584):
P.S. Or maybe I shall just give up trying and forget about it. It's particularly funny how a PC exclusive title like this one feels like a beta at launch and after 3 patches released by far (just take a look at the official support forums - it's like a fair of bugs out there) and game ports like Dead Rising 2 for instance are completely polished (played the other day for 10 FUCKING hours while alt-tabbing constantly and not single a flying fuckity-fuck issue). Meh ...

There's a difference between a simple zombie shootfest and a game with a good measure of depth and complexity like Civ5. It's bound to have more bugs on release, especially these days.

I know. But the above statement should not be treated as an excuse. They should've tested the game more, a lot more.

I've played the game 9-10 hours I think, I didn't encounter any big bugs and had one crash. Comparing a game like Dead Rising to Civ technically is also irrelevant as stated above, the difference between complexity is too big.

They'll fix it with patches, they alway's do.
I haven't really noticed anything gamebreaking.
But then again, I'm not very good at this game lol.
Not even finished and always have the less points overall, or mid points.

Yeah, I too think 2K is to blame.

Can Siam force endless peace treaties or is this ANOTHER bug?
Playing on an archipelago map and Siam thought it mite b cool to settle three tiles away from my capitol, as well as another spot i really wanted, so it was time for them to go. I roll over all but their capitol, and suddenly I'm in a peace treaty I didn't agree to. 30 turns later, I still can't attack them. I'm ALL over their territory but this treaty seems stuck.

You know what's funny. In my 1.0.0.20 game (2nd version) I was getting peace treaty ended messages every single turn, after normal peace treaty expired with civ I was in war with.
Maybe it's some side effect of fixing that bug... who knows...

I'm probably lucky since I haven't had a single crash. Been playing "epic" campaign, on the year 2030 now. The only bug I've seen was that I had two military units illegally stacked. When I pressed end turn, one of them teleported some 10 squares away in a random direction.
Fun game, but the largest map gets to be quite a handful when you're controlling like 60% of it with dozens of cities.
I'm also a bit miffed about how few units you get to use. I'm constantly living on the edge budget-wise and upkeeps cost a ton. Building a new unit always takes upwards from 10 turns. There's so many units in the game I never used once even though I wanted to, just because I never got a chance to build them. The game's about to end and I've barely finished building my first carrier and a fighter jet to land on it. How is one supposed to uphold real-life US-like military presence around the world with one or two carriers and a handful of troops and tanks? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but I don't see any way to uphold a reasonable amount of military forces in this game. Not that the game even requires you to, at least on Prince difficulty.

If you could support a massive army, military victory would be too easy.

Yes, I get that, but when you can only afford a dozen or so units to cover the whole map ( on huge setting )...
It's not exactly making the game hard because opponents have the same limitations, but it just doesn't seem very reasonable considering the scope of the game.

What I like to do is to have very few units, so i have a good income of money. Then whenever needed i can just buy alot of them.

Only one crash here, right after thinking to myself that I'd never had one
Biggest problem is the time taken for ai turns, large map, 7 civs, turn 270, 90-100 seconds per turn and it's getting worse, been this way for at least 70 turns, it was fine one turn, bad the next
I really need to give up on the game as the waiting is ridiculous but those Persians need to be taught the same lesson as Ghandi

The full tech tree? That depends on your stats from turn to turn, right?
