! means tired, you have to move them to the quarters, crew management is only neaded when running at speed 32x or lower, at 1024 they wont get tired because managing would be impossible

Varj, unfortunately we are expected to manage the crew ourselves. It's obviously a game feature they thought we would appreciate - but if you have to micromanage this and you can't leave the computer to rotate in shifts normally without your input it becomes fustrating to be sure Sad

Weather conditions will determine whether or not they fatigue faster or regain their stamina.

You will need to put them in the quarters to beef up their endurance levels. Especially those with exlamation points.

Is your CPU set up right in Windows? If so I don't know. If not you probably haven't set it up right in your BIOS.

Improvise, adapt and overcome as Clint Eastwood said...Razz
You just order your crew to drag the sub up on land and to CG32...

no serious, I don´t know... Haven´t you missed something then? maybe a part of the grid is sea?

Strange - try zooming in, there is probably some part of it at sea but from afar because of the resolution of the landmass it doesn't look like it. That happens with Ports so hopefully that's the case here.

Three patrol missions and NO ships spotted, why is this happening? I've only spotted one ship, and that was a german ship. I've sunk one merchant ship, but that was the second patrol I was on.

And I don't get completed missions even if I stay at the correct coordinates for 24 hours anymore, got it the first missions, but now it stopped happening.

Start at a later date if you don't have the patience, better technology and more active seas. As for not completing missions - make sure you enter your assigned patrol grid and patrol it for 24hrs. It's easy to make a mistake and be patrolling the wrong sector (I've done it Very Happy).

Spotting no ships btw is realistic and dependent on a number of things - but it's not always happening - you sometimes get really explosive patrols, and sometimes really quiet patrols, and then there is the moderate inbetweens.

It's random really.

Oh, well I don't know about that. I think that is just production speeds that have no bearing on it's listing in Windows - so SHIII doesn't know that (or test it).

Just go into options and change the video details?

20% left or something..
4 torpedos left..
It was night.. 02:00 or something, and I met a convoy..
a BIG convoy! Shocked
Damn it was big..
And only thing I could do was to go away.. to bad weather to use the deck gun.. Sad
Only managed to sink 1 ship.. all other torpedos missed.. Sad

*Me Crying* Crying or Very sad

I got a new mission to patrol this one spot, I went there and completed it (works again, yay).

Anyways, I wasn't too far away from the passage between france and the UK so I figured I could go down there and check it out. I get down there and spot a bunch of ships, but I can't see any of them because of the fog, so I decide to try to follow the red lines on the map so I might spot them for torpedo launch. I drive around for quite some time and get spotted, I still can't see a damn ship in that fog so I take down the periscope and drive around some more.

Then all of a suddend I hear this machine sound getting louder and louder, I raise my periscope to see what it is, since I can't see any ship on the map, and see a destroyer coming right at me. It drives directly over me and destroys my lovely sub, ending my career =(

If you followed the radio commands and completed all their tasks you would know that you need to surface the boat and just press escape afterwards and end patrol (or something similar).

Make sure you got that message first.

Damn this game sounds *HARD*!

By the end of WW2 Germany lost around 30000 submariners - ASDIC, sonar, radar, etc, etc just totally blitzed those pesky subs. Plus the Allies had broken Enigma & re-routed their convoys to avoid the German UBoats. In reality UBoats were surface raiders, destroying most Allied ships under cover of darkness & were pretty rubbish underwater, as they ran on their electric batteries & couldn't fire easily.

Towards the end of the war these subs were out-of-date & Hitler had commissioned a new design with longer range & a snorkel ability - so this UBoat would remain underwater most of the time & be able to run its diesels underwater. The excellent film Das Boat sums up the experiences of a typical German UBoat crew.

Hi guys

I HAVE AN EMERGENCY HERE!!!!! SH III CRASHES AFTER LOADING SAVE GAME!

Yesterday I started my adventure with SH III. Everything was ok till today. I passed my first mission (patrol). I have 3 auto saves and one manual. After I load anyone of them the game crashes after 5-10 seconds. 2 times it exited to windows without any communicat and after third time it crashed to windows but with critical error of SHIII.exe file.
So I made an experiment. I started new carrer and saved the game during mission. After loading this game everything is ok. So what the hell is going on!??!?!?!?!?!?!
Anybody of you had similar problem????

This is not true for the late German XXI Models wich were faster underwater than surfaced. The tactics on these submarines were very different from other boats these days. When a XXI boat spotted an enemy or convoy they submerged and went on collision course. They didn't need a persicope for the attacks as they had a firing computer and they had sonar and some highly efficient under water listening device. After the attack they were able to flee under water with a speed of 17.50 knots, allied sonars didn't work over speeds of 12-13 knots.

Here is a picture of a type XXI U-boot, you can take a tour on this boat in Bremerhaven Smile

I got the original game, and I had to type in the CD-Key that was written on my CD!
Don't know how it is on the cracked version, but with my version, original game, bought in the store, I HAVE to use a CD-Key.
