Why would people want to boost.
But look, at Black Ops they don't boost from something that is hard to unlock. Because everything is avaible from the start. That means EVERYONE can walk with that special camo, but its not that special then anymore, so what is the point then? If you had the Fall camo in MW2, you thought two things: ''Ooooh, that guy is a pro with that gun. He has more then 1000 headshots with it, if he has the Fall camo'' or ''That guy is a booster for sure''
In Black Ops that is not the case, you don't achieve anything with it.
Kinda difficult for me to write down my thoughts of this in proper English.

Not once did I ever think any of those things when picking up someone elses weapon and they had one of the higher camo's on their weapon.
Reason why I never gave it much thought was because I just killed them and knicked their gun.
To me getting everything from the start and then choosing what I want to get first for my "cod-money" sounds awesome to be honest, no more do I have to go through 40 ranks just to get that rifle or smg, I can just save up and get it from the start and then spend on whatever I feel like. And in time collecting everything... ^_^

I think i see the problem here. you're crediting boosters with your ideals.
I'm with you on BO making boosting even more pointless, i couldn't agree more. it really won't make the slightest difference to boosters though.
they really are a breed apart.

I rank hacked in CoD4,5 and 6, because I don't like basic weapons and wanted for example AK47 that was unlocked towards the end. I want weapon of my choice straight from begining (or in few minutes when I earn enough credits of course), and if BO allows this I won't rank hack/credit boost of course. There are many players like me. But of course there will be people who will credit boost no matter what, just because they can.

Okay, so people will boost for credtis to unlock everything right away. Well, if people are boosting and there is a admin, that they will be kicked I think.

There will be such people, yes. But I'd say not many. I will be happy to unlock perks and weapons I want and play with it for a wwhile to unlock some more. Being forced to play without any useful perks and weapons for quite few hours like in previous CoD was painful.

Boosting is cheating really, not as lame as using wallhacks/aimbots etc but just as noobish in my view. i'm a bit of a purist when it comes to online gaming, as I believe cheats should be used only in single player games and never online playing with/against other players.
I would also very soon tire of a game and probably stop playing it after a while. As has happened many a time when I use cheats in single player games. Half the fun in the cod games was levelling and unlocking the stuff.
Each to their own though, unlike aimbots which totally ruin the game for everyone, at least with rank hacks you will still be playing at the same skill level had you not boosted. it's pretty easy to spot the veteren players that grinded and have gone through the learning curve from the ones that boosted to max rank fairly quickly in game anyway. Like my teacher used to say, when you cheat the only person you are cheating is yourself!.

Personally I'm the opposite. When you've done leveling you can concentrate on playing how you enjoy rather than being distracted with mathmatical formula to work out which weapon, mode and map will give you the quickest boost, also taking into account what bonuses are coming up.

I get that some people like leveling or progressing through games. But some of us don't like this. If you look at a rank as some kind of achievement, then for you a person who use rank hack is cheater, yes. Whereas I see rank as some kind of restriction to my enjoyment, keeping me from fully enjoying game I purchased until I grind enough to get my hands on weapon I want.
I don't like grinding in MMO, let alone in FPS.
If rank meant only badge, like ranks 25-50 in BFBC2, then I would consider all people trying to hack their rank silly. But if they wanted rank 25 to unlock all weapon then I would totally understand them.
It's like you would unlock one map in game after every 50 hours of play time. How silly would that be?

I hear you, but in mw2 some weapons are better suited to some maps which unfortunately can only be unlocked at later levels. A rank hack which unlocks X weapon would give you a bigger advantage then say someone who didn't hack and was stuck with only the basic m14a for instance. Although ultimately a persons skill is still the deciding factor rather then choice of gun.
I just think in a competative online match that still comes across as being rather cheap as you still have an unfair advantage over your opponent in terms of choice of weapons you can use from the start.
Not game breaking for sure like aimbots/wallhacks are (in game it doesn't even bother me if someone does rank hack tbh) but still I would regard it as cheating as everyone would like to have the full choice of weapons to use, but have to earn them the hard way.
Like I said before though, I just don't think any type of cheats and hacks should be taken into public online servers regardless of how trivial they may be. Fairplay ftw!

In that case there will never be any fairplay as you so put it, because you always seem to play against people who are lower rank than yourself (or higher if you're starting out yourself). Fairplay is if either they skip the rank system altogether or give everyone the choice for max rank from start.

Yes, but in that case devs should remove leveling altogether, as it's game breaker for many people. I just refuse to "work" in game towards something I want. It's not a job, it should be entertainment.

I'm on the opposite side of the fence, I don't consider it to be "work" - I absolutely LOVE the progression! These days in fact, I'm bored in FPS titles that don't have some kind of progression. I always preferred RPG or WC3 servers on UT99 and CS1.6.

Most people need the "levelingfix". Its addictive. "Just another level. Just another unlock".
Basic gameplay for mmorpg, implemented in FPS.

One might argue, that ranking up is part of the entertainment. I like it, for one. Having "better" guns is not that unbalanced, I didn't have that much trouble with dealing with higher ranked players. All in all, I just don't take it that seriously.
It also has a practical use in a way that it forces you to go through all the equipment, so you get familiar with it and might actually find out their strengths and weaknesses for yourself, instead just sticking to one allegedly great gun from the start.

Don't get me wrong, I personally like the ranking up (and the new cash system in BO) but after doing it for the fifth time in the same game I'm happy that there's a rankhack.

Yeah cash system looks ok as opposed to ranks. It lets you have perks and weapons of your choice in no time (at least I hope so), instead of waiting 50 levels or so for AK47.

it seemed to me that it would still be locked to levels but you get to choose what to unlock through money.
Guess I could've misinterpreted it though.

The way I understood it, you do indeed have all the unlocks available to "buy" from the start. But I didn't look into it in detail though...
