Also played it for a bit, there now are challenges per song that award extra stars (spades?), also career challenges that you can aim for. Other than that not much has changed, I might want to check out the piano controller though if I find it cheaply somewhere.
Generally I still like Guitar Hero more for Guitar and Bass gameplay, mainly because notes are all over the track with lots of HOPOs, whereas Rockband has more streaks of one button which you have to hit 8+ times. Sure it might be more 'realistic', but Guitar Heroes tracks are still more fun.
For parties, RB is still the preferred game because of its huge library, and I am eagerly awaiting the RB2 Export Pack for Jtagged xboxes.
