I have Win7 x64 and skidrow version installed fine by running autorun.exe.
My problem: There's only DirectX9 and DirectX11 choice in the launcher, I have a DirectX10 card. Usually choosing DX11 would use the DX10 feature level and still works, but it don't. That's sad.

Removed all the extra languages, leaving only English? Video and audio downsampling (is the right word I guess)? Maybe they even downsampled the textures.. Who knows..

I think that the game doesn't have any videos and I'm not sure there are tools out there for unpacking and repacking LP2's files. I think I'll download this release to see if I can find out what they did because I'm very curious!!

Patch is out, it's at 1.0.1 from what I've read, I don't own the game though so I can't download it.

Acquired the game, uploading the 1.1 patch now, was hoping I would find the patch another way but this works too, unsure what's fixed, launcher is updated but using Trivium/Skdirow (Trvirum seems better from what I've read.) should work just fine as the main game exe's aren't touched when using this sort of crack so all updated functionality will work.
Patch adds a new archive whatever it does and updates both exe files (And related LIVE files for verification and such things.) at 40 MB but also contains all files pre-extracted from the installer so total archive when compressed is about 70 MB.

Thanks JBeckman!
Just for clarification:
TheWitcherPatch.1.5.exe .... should I delete it? What is it doing in the archive?
setup - Shortcut .... I should delete that too, right?
To install the update I run setup.exe right?
The X folder contains the extracted files from the setup.exe? Then I should delete it as I don't need it if I install via the setup.exe, yes?
Thanks again!

There isn't a TheWitcherPatch exe in the archive, how odd, I wonder wherel did that come from as it shouldn't be there (Nor do I have any such file.), did something bug or corrupt during upload maybe, strange and worrying.
Media1.cab -> data files for LIVE.
setup.exe -> LIVE installer.
TitleUpdate.msi -> Live updater.
setup - Shortcut.lnk -> LIVE installer with /f parameter to force a directory to dump the files into, how I use to extract them from the cab easily, not needed but left there for some reason.
X -> contains all dumped files if one just wants to copy it over, launcher should be renamed with the _ suffix or something to not overwrite the cracked one.
EDIT: Redownloading the archive, let's see what was actually uploaded.
(It doesn't make any sense unless it's corrupt or otherwise damaged but that shouldn't be.)
EDIT: Redownloaded, there's no such file in the archive, the rest is accurate though as per the (Now much better.) explanation above this edit.

Oops, haha, my bad about The Witcher patch. I have an identically named folder that contains it, on another hard drive and I must have been confused.
Thanks JB

I've played some of the campaign with a friend through Tunngle. You do level up by playing coop. You also select your weapon loadout. Only thing you can't change in the campaign is the character model itself.

You can...after you finish the entire campaign. After that you can go into the my page - character selection screen and select which character you want to use in the campaign.

consolitis wrote: | consolitis wrote: | Yes, LP2 was poorly received: http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/lost-planet-2 and it sold bad, I think it hasn't reached the 1M of (combined PS360) sales yet, or we would have heard of it..
But Inafune himself agrees it wasn't good, and blames Takeuchi, LP2's producer (though without actually saying his name): http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=267671
"I came up with the concept for the original Lost Planet and got involved quite a bit, however, regrettably, Lost Planet 2 was done by someone else and I didn't really have any direct involvement. I still believe in the franchise, and if we do more with it I will definitely get involved directly. If a particular franchise or IP is continued by the creator, there is no problem. But in a large organisation that's not possible all the time. Therefore if you have to change the director or producer, etc, they would have to love the IP or franchise, including good points and bad points, as a whole. Without love, nothing happens."
As noted on the article, and as I posted before on another thread, Inafune believes Japan in whole is making terrible games and he wants to study how western companies make them "better", at least in his opinion (read between the lines: he wants Japan/Capcom to make the next Halo, Call of Duty or Gears of War).
Is Takeuchi to blame for LP2's shortcomings? I believe that yes, he's largely responsible. He was the producer of RE5 too, and RE5 was a mere HD copy-paste of RE4, doing close to nothing to advance the series gameplay; it didn't introduce any noteworthy gameplay elements, despite being developed for hardware that's far more powerful than the hardware that RE4 was designed for, which would normally allow the title's designers to do a lot more than before.
His only idea on how to evolve the RE and LP franchises was to force co-op in both of them, with crappy AI partners when the player isn't online.
Thankfully he has already stated that he won't produce RE6, and it certianly doesn't look like Inafune will let him touch the LP franchise ever again. |
Funny, Kotaku now reports that Inafune hates his job, and he works hard because he wants to retire as early as possible.
http://kotaku.com/5661596/dead-rising-producer-hates-his-job-he-wants-to-retire
Maybe it has something to do with his comment that Japanese companies make shitty games, and he's getting irritated at how much behind the West Japanese devs are. |
Lol, today he announced he's leaving Capcom: http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/10/29/inafune_leaving_capcom/

Also:
Capcom profits dive 40%
Quote: | Capcom has posted a 39.9 per cent profit decline for the sixth months ended September 31.
Profit fell to 1,784 million yen (£13.8m), with game delays, underperforming titles like Lost Planet 2, and the sharp appreciation of the yen largely to blame.
Despite the profit slump, sales increased 4.7 per cent during the same period to 40,706 million yen (£314.7m), with flagship titles Dead Rising 2 and Super Street Fighter IV cited as strong performers.
Capcom said that Dead Rising 2 has surpassed two million copies shipped to retail worldwide, and that the franchise has shipped over four million copies to date.
