G4 has been openly admitted and marketed for the more casual RPG audience, especially since it's on the consoles. That some people can't run cracked versions of the game doesn't count for real bugs.
I'm liking it more every minute I play. The combat realy feels good, you can't grow stupidly powerfull and be able to "tank" everything there is, and actualy have to pay attention in combat no matter what you're fighting. Although I have to say playing on the "hardcore"(gothic diff,no quest markers, no health bars) mode is too simple now, I can take on any amount of enemies and with proper dodging, bow and magic usage)ignite, slow, bow, bow, bow, stun, chop chop chop) they can't even hit me, does it get any harder later in the game?
My only gripe now are boring dialogues

I also like it. I started playing yesterday evening, with really low expectations (after reading the negative opinions and reviews). And to my surprise, i liked it. I enjoy it as much as i enjoyed Gothic 2 a long time ago. Voice acting is poor, but gets the job done; if you replay the previous Gothic games, you'll actually realize the voice acting was poor throughout the whole series.
PS: i never liked Gothic III though, never managed to drag myself beyond the first half of the game. I also pretended that Forsaken Gods never happened.

No quest markers or health bars on gothic difficulty? I have them just fine.
after u highlight a quest should there be an arrow or something on the minimap to guide u to that quest or is it a bug in the game?
In 80% of the cases I don't get an arrow. Just have to explore a bit more to find my quest destination. In other cases I get a wrong quest arrow. It's bugged, I think.
Getting past the invisible borders is usually easy but touching water will instantly kill you when you get further out, that might not be for all areas and places though.
(Jumping down from certain areas has the same effect.)
Rather annoying as in one part you're fighting undead on a shore and the mages and archers run out to the water or even under it (slopes down.) but if you follow you're killed instantly as the invisible barriers only cover a small part of the area and NPC's can navigate past such obstacles.
(They go trough it, same for cliffs, trees and other stuff unfortunately.)
About the finish the last part of the game now but there might be more to it, unsure how it will be supporter later on.
(Patches are planned and as I mentioned DLC are supported as well.)
No problems with FPS or crashes
runs very smooth on Q9550 and a GTX295 @ high settings.
For me after about 10 hours of gameplay:
Pro's:
- Beautifull world.
- Nice music
- Good atmosphere
Con's
- Very bad Voice acting and facial animations(during cinematics)
- Lot's op NPC's have the same face, think i encountered already 5 salesmen with the
same face
- Doesen't feel like Gothic anymore
- Very liniear (not much to explore beside the main quest)
i did all the quests in the stewark's area and i can leave the area. but still there's 3 locked cave entrances, 2 in the upper north area, one of them has a metal gate and one near the farmhouse. how do i get in or do i have to come back later in the game? or do i find the keys somewhere?
and how do i get rid of that CRAFTING crap on the right of my HUD?
You find one at the tutorial island, there might be one additional at some later store (Some have them and stores restock if you leave and then come back in a while.) but of the five runes (Six with the part collection quest.) they're not very common.
(Five low-runes and five high-runes with greater effect.)
Finished the game, they're probably doing a expansion based on how it ended and the largely unused parts of the game world, or some DLC.
Was OK but nothing exceptional, took about 17 hours or so and I did most everything aside from finding some of the collectible items.
(If you're planning to go back and redo stuff from the earlier areas keep a save right at the dark tower as since I mentioned earlier at certain points you get past some obstacle and can't return, of course why would you if you were thorough when you explored the region initially, there's not that many quests outside of the main story though exploring to find all equipment and possible alchemy/crafting stuff is useful but not necessary.)
