Ditto on that! I hope I don't get weird performance issues like MoH.

gothic is traditionally a pc game series so I doubt that a console version can keep up with the pc version.
not only interface wise, but also performance wise and it's gothic so it's probably buggy as hell so the pc version will probably be the safest in that regard..
does anyone have some insight on that? I didn't play the demo so I'm not sure what to expect |
According to reviews the 360 version is an ugly mess. Why should you bother with a console version if you have a decent PC that can run it?
If you want a console-like experience (gamepad+HDTV) you can get it with the PC version as well. Unlike the consoles, the PC version supports true 1080p and it would be very strange if the 360 controller doesn't work.
It's not buggy this time, though. But it's also not as good as the Piranha Bytes games.

All PC RPGs are mouse-oriented so even if combat and roaming with a pad will be ok, inventory/stats etc. management is a nightmare.
Also the 360 demo looked really nice, much better than ANY other sandbox RPG on 360, including Oblivion, Two Worlds, Risen, Dvinity 2 etc.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. The PC version supports the 360 controller so the controls are exactly like in the 360 version.

Windows supports the 360 controller, not the game. You'll be moving a fucking mouse cursor with thumbsticks.

Exactly. In console version, you don't have a floating mouse cursor and in PC version you can't select and move stuff with keyboard arrows. So one of the 360 thumbsticks will operate the mouse cursor and you'll be sitting there trying to aim at a 5-pixel slider on your sweet 1080p screen. Good luck with that!

I guess the game extracted badly or something. Runs fine thru xexmenu from USB drive.

playing this game right now aand.. is it me or does it run just horrible ? feels like the FPS are around 20fps if not lower.
definitely not smooth at all. the rest seems "fine", seems better than gothic 3 when it comes to gameplay, though the story and atmosphere so far.. could be better.

It's ok for a console action/RPG, feels more like a Fable than a Gothic though, no way near as good as Risen.

Well the game is ok, but not super.
For me after about 10 hours of gameplay:
Pro's:
- Beautifull world.
- Nice music
- Good atmosphere
Con's
- Very bad Voice acting and facial animations(during cinematics)
- Lot's op NPC's have the same face, think i encountered already 5 salesmen with the
same face
- Doesen't feel like Gothic anymore
- Very liniear (not much to explore beside the main quest)

yeah that's where I am too and eventhough I'm a pretty big fan of the previous gothic games, this game didn't draw me in. it's just missing something awesome.
like in oblivion where you exit those tunnels for the first time and see the huge beatiful world around you and you're like "OMG AWESOME!"
gothic 4 here is just kinda bland right from the start and doesn't do anything great to show you what makes it worth playing.
might be a game to go back and play when there's nothing better around, but with so many great titles coming up in the next days and weeks Gothic 4 doesn't stand a chance for me.

I gave this game a chance. Roughly 20 hrs in now, LOVE IT!
It's not the best game by any means, but it def starts picking up once you get a little ways into Arrgan.
